I still admire HRH Prince of Wales & his immediate family.

I was a fan of our King, that is until today. Why on earth was
Andrew allowed back on the scene?

I do not like being treated like a fool, nor do millions of others in the UK.

The time has come to have a referendum if the Monarchy is to remain.

A link would be good, or an explanation of what PA did and where.

ForensicFlossy · 27/02/2024 22:02

It was a family event rather than a public engagement

Sk8erboi · 27/02/2024 22:02

Was this not a remembrance service for a family member? He wouldn't be excluded from that 🙄

Fulshaw · 27/02/2024 22:02

Bloody hell. He’s allowed out sometimes.

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 27/02/2024 22:02

Andrew was invited by the Greek royals.

His cheery demeanour was in rather bad taste given he was attending a memorial service and would have been aware about the news of Thomas Kingston’s death.

Janehasamane · 27/02/2024 22:05

It was a memorial service for a family member, he wasn’t working, I’m surprised there is any confusion.

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 27/02/2024 22:10

I'd abolish the monarchy if it was up to me, but I'm not particularly bothered by this. It was a memorial service for a relative. I know there isn't a clear line between public and private events when it comes to something involving a former king and foreign royals etc but there were non-working royals who were presumably there in a personal capacity, and I'd view Andrew in the same way.

That doesn't mean I don't think he's an odious little man though.

Ive no time for most of the royals especially him, but this is just shoddy journalism. The RF was led by the Queen at this memorial service.

I think that is what upset me most and taking the lead,

Anyway, the Royals should not allowed him to lead, IMHO

Where they?
Where, when, why can I not see her in the picture?

Because its crappy journalism and they chose a shot that focused on him rather than the Queen and the others.

They were.

She arrived by car.

Andrew “led” a small handful of people on the walk down the hill only because Anne got chatting to Zara behind him.

He had to wait at the door as Anne was to go in before him. They were seated inside with working royals having precedence

Fair enough - let me check the other outlets I respect a lot more than the DM
I will post links if a few minutes

He didn’t lead, he was made to wait in the porch and enter after the Queen and Anne. He also sat further back with the minor royals rather than at the front with Anne , Camilla and the Gloucesters . This is just sensationalist journalism.

Thank you for the comforting words.

I'm no fan of the royals and especially not of Andrew's, but I don't see the problem with him attending a memorial ceremony for someone he knew personally for his whole life.

Of course, he was the highest in the line of succession that was in attendance, which doesn't reflect well on the family.

I think he is in the front row. Maybe some last minute shuffling about after William cancelled

YetMoreNewBeginnings · 27/02/2024 22:28

The working royals were treated with precedence with Anne (and Tim) and the Gloucesters sat next to Camilla so his place in the line really meant nothing today.

That’s not him , he was in the opposite side of the church. That’s the Duke of Gloucester, I think . Although you could be right. If so that’s not good but then presumably the Greeks did the seating plan .

You can see footage of him waiting in porch and Anne going ahead here But ultimately it was a private family memorial for his cousin. It would be hard to ban him from something like that , especially as the Greek royals invited him , perhaps the press shouldn’t give him so much attention, he clearly revels in it .

Edited

That's fair enough. However, if we had someone in our family who had been stripped of their status and many people did not like them. Trust me, that person could go alone.
