I think the first one (Alford Gardner by Chloe Cox) is my favourite

These are wonderful. I love the one of Jessie Stephens (woman in pink).

I also like Gilda Oliver’s one - feels like she really is sitting opposite you!

It's excellent, I love that he didn't choose who to have the portraits of but asked others- brilliant. I'm going to do my best to go and see them whilst they're on display.

If I recall correctly, I think the King (when he was Prince of Wales?) also commissioned portraits of Holocaust Survivors. I get the impression that the King is a cultured man and I hope this means that we now have a high profile supporter of the arts who will be leading by example - commissioning new work, going to concerts etc.

I went to see them when they were exhibited and they were marvellous portraits, and very moving that HM commissioned them.

Beautiful picture of Gilda Oliver - what a kind, caring person.
These portraits with the people's stories is such a lovely idea.

Maireas · 25/06/2023 19:17

The portraits of the Holocaust survivors were wonderful as well. So right to remember these people.

He did! As a Jewish person with family members who survived (sadly no longer with us) it was such a kind gesture and I hope the portraits will help their story be retold after they pass, so that history will never repeat itself

Well done KC3

Ah, National Portrait Gallery from October for 6 months. Mmm. I'll make a note of that.

I saw the TV programme about this the other day:

It was really moving and I have to say I admired King Charles for doing this.

BBC Two - Windrush: Portraits of a Generation

A film about a remarkable Windrush portrait project spearheaded by the King.
