"American media says Prince Harry 'didn't go far enough' with attack on Royal Family
The LA Times published an opinion piece in which they say Harry showed the Royal Family to be "cold and ruthless.""

No mention in the book of MMs suicidal thoughts. No mention of Archie's colour being discussed. Yes, not enough things said. I wonder if it's because these stories are so full of holes and so misleading, he daren't dig himself any deeper into his hole?

I literally read the bit where she is suicidal when pregnant this afternoon.

Are you reading a different book?

Interesting points. I have spoken to an American or two and I would agree that the shaking off of the British rule in the War of Independence is ingrained into them. Would the words 'into their national psyche' be right?

So why are they so star struck about their titles?

That all Americans are anti-monarchy is a sweeping generalization and untrue.

Some Americans are anti monarchy.

Some Americans are pro-monarchy.

The majority couldn't care less because it does not have anything to do with us.

Sure, but the ones that do care and are anti-monarchy, are more/differently anti-monarchy than otherwise similar British anti-monarchists. It's interesting (but ultimately not important)

I agree with that 100%. There are some Americans who are still "we fought a war of independence". Yea, 250 years ago. Those people typically do not seek out articles/information about the Monarchy IMO. If they see one, they grumble it has nothing to do with us. They are correct, our ancestors did decide a Monarchy was not right for us.

There are some who are Royal Family fans, like me. I support M & H and W & K and C & C. (It does happen that people who support H & M also support W & C) But at the end of the day, they aren't anything to do with me either.

There is a reason most coverage here ends up in the entertainment sections of papers and magazines here. Because it is not OUR Royal Family and not our government. If this was happening in our Government we would feel differently. And to be frank, we had our disaster head of government a few years back. Hopefully we learned something since then.

Sigh. After Trump, a Monarchy doesn't seem to to be a bad idea.

I should take myself to task for making a sweeping statement, so let me qualify to say I think there are definitely SOME people in the USA who have that feeling, going right back to the War of Independence, that they would never be under the yoke of a monarch.
When you ask why 'they' are so star struck about their titles, I assume you mean the Americans, not M and H themselves, and I think they can be very happy to have shaken off the Brits a long time ago and still see the monarchy in a bit of a princessy, Disneyish, glamorous way, as if the RF are celebrities, which they are not.
