@Shelefttheweb may I reply to your last statement first?
Where and when did I say that
"the only response he should receive for it is a huge amount of money..."?
I haven't actually said what I think about the book, I was only talking about how cruel I believe the 'memes' to be.
However, as you have accused me of this, I will give you my opinion:
I think that writing the book was probably cathartic for Harry, but after he wrote it he should have burned it, and without showing it to anyone else.
I think it is a terrible way for him to make money, and if I was not absolutely convinced that he is suffering from at least one severe mental illness, then I would probably think along the same lines as you - with an exception for his father. That man made Harry's mother's life more than merely miserable, as did his mistress. Ultimately, if charles and camilla had not plotted to get Diana to marry him, then yes, Harry wouldn't have been born - which given his mental state he might wish had never happened anyway - and Diana would not have died in that tunnel in Paris.
I tried to stick up for Meghan for a long time, when reports of what she had said and done were only heresay, but since their interview with Oprah, and all the subsequent things that they have said and done, I do now (very sadly) have to believe that Meghan is indeed narcissistic, and a gaslighter, she does not come across to me as having a mental illness at all, but she does seem to have negative mental thought processes.
I agree with you that of course "others should have stopped him publishing it", but who are the others you think should have stopped him? His wife? The one who mistakenly thought the book would have everyone on their side, instead of what has actually happened, which is almost totally the opposite of that? Or do you think that the publishers should have refused to publish it? Ha ha! Maybe you think his friends should have stopped him? But he dropped them - even his best friend - after he married Meghan, she probably convinced him that they were trying to ruin his life, rather than save it.
Harry has been mentally unwell since shortly after his Mother's death. He appears to be getting worse every year, and his wife seems to be encouraging his decline. I just wish that more people on Mumsnet had compassion and empathy for Harry, rather than laughing at him, and kicking him when he is already so far down.
