Police pass file on cash-for-honours allegations to CPS

CPS have to decide whether to prosecute. I doubt they will though as the Royal Family do appear to be above the law.

"A file of evidence about cash-for-honours allegations involving one of the King’s charities has been passed to the Crown Prosecution Service. The claims relate to The Prince’s Foundation, a charity set up by the King when he was the Prince of Wales. The investigation followed newspaper reports a Saudi donor to the Prince’s Foundation was allegedly offered help to receive an honour.

Buckingham Palace said it would not comment on an ongoing police inquiry. The Prince’s Foundation did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: “A file was passed to the CPS on 31 October.

“The investigation remains ongoing and we will not be providing a running commentary on its progress.”

The Sunday Times has reported prosecutors are expected to decide before Christmas if charges would be brought. No one has been arrested. Anti-monarchy group Republic made a formal complaint to Met detectives about Charles and former close confidant Michael Fawcett in September 2021, following the newspaper stories. Mr Fawcett, who has since resigned as chief executive of The Prince’s Foundation, had been accused of promising to help Saudi billionaire Mahfouz Marei Mubarak bin Mahfouz to secure a knighthood and in getting citizenship."

I don't suppose it'll get taken any further any more than the suitcases of cash scandal has been.

Fawcett seems to have done rather well out of falling on his sword yet again though. A £60K payoff in addition to the bloated salary he was already being paid meant he trousered in the region of £190k over his last five months at the charity.

Being the king's fall guy has its rewards.

Have files been passed to the CPS before re the royals?
Is even this act some improvement ? I'm clutching at straws

I know Charles can't be convicted ( disgraceful) but can he be questioned?

Lolliesareonme · 23/11/2022 10:03

If you read OPs link it says that a man in his 50’s, and a man in his 40’s were questioned under caution. So not Charles. It is quite feasible that he didn’t have a clue what was going on. Let’s face it, it’s not like he needs the money to line his personal pockets, but other people might.

3 resignations- Michael Fawcett, Chris Martin, Douglas Connell.

@Lolliesareonme

Are you new to this?

The point questionable things have been happening repeatedly and Charles is 'unaware'

Charles accepted the money.
I believe one of the 'charities ' was one of his castles .

Charles cannot be prosecuted - even if he murdered someone .
Why cant he be questioned is what I want to know

He never has had when the shit hits the fan.

Dumfries House?

The vanity project he 'saved for the nation'.

He wasn’t the monarch when the 2 men were questioned under caution.

So yes, he could indeed have been questioned at the time if deemed a person of interest.

He was interviewed over death of Diana.

Novella4 · 24/11/2022 07:49

Oh could he ?? But he wasn't . Funny that.

He wasn't monarch when he interfered in law making to exclude himself either .

So your argument is now he's 'king' too late ! He can murder someone but he's king so 'shrug shoulders'
Solid argument you have there

Lolliesareonme · 24/11/2022 09:52

I just take the stance of watch and wait to see what further emerges re the men questioned under caution.

Regarding your argument he can murder anyone, bit OTT, but you never know! You asked if he could be questioned, and I replied yes he could have been.

Just for the record I think it is outdated and abhorrent that the reigning monarch can’t be prosecuted.
