Rolling coverage :/

I will start by saying I'm not one of the people who 'doesn't care' about the queen passing. I've been deeply saddened by it. I respect her hugely and think she did an amazing job, it's a very sad loss.

I'm also not against the rolling media coverage over the last few days. It was always going to be like this and I've found parts of it really interesting. However aibu to find rolling coverage of the hearse driving quite ghoulish? It feels like a step too far. Perhaps show it leaving Balmoral and arriving at its destination but to follow it with a drone feels intrusive and unnecessary. I also can't get over the amount of people filming it going by on their phones. Just why? It's a coffin. Feels really off to me.

It's helicopter footage, not a drone. Although it's not showing on Flight Radar interestingly, unlike the one that filmed the King's journey from Northolt to Buckingham Palace.

I'm rather enjoying the scenery.

Meh helicopter/drone. Just feels very intrusive. And imagine the pressure of the driver.

I don't find it ghoulish I'm enjoying watching her on her journey as sad as it it. Also the scenery is beautiful I can see why she loved it so much.
You could always switch channels.

Hbh17 · 11/09/2022 11:06

It is moving to watch, and rather beautiful, but I do wish people would put their phones away. The pictures we see with our own eyes are always the best ones.

Lol I did wonder how long it would take before someone said switch channels, not long at all!

I don't find it offensive. Just a bit odd.

I've just seen a line up of horses and riders in a field. How lovely

thereisonlyoneofme · 11/09/2022 11:45

Im beginning to be slightly irritated by the general live coverage when nothing is actually happening, at Buck House or windsor, talking to the public and saying, why have you come today. Do they think people are going to say I thought Id do a bit of pickpocketing in the crowd. Ive switched off now because it will all be4 repeated so can dip inandout

FayeGovan · 11/09/2022 11:46

The footage of Scotland is beautiful, its a gorgeous country on a nice day like this.

CatherineMorland · 11/09/2022 11:48

I’m enjoying watching it, the crowds give me the sense that the nation is coming together. I’m finding it quite comforting.

Georgeskitchen · 11/09/2022 11:49

The scenery Is stunning and it gives a chance for everyone to witness Her Majesty's final journey, not just those lining the streets.
It's not "just a coffin" it's the Queens coffin. Just change channels

lollipoprainbow · 11/09/2022 11:50

I'm finding it really poignant watching people lining the streets and the horses and riders 😢

jays · 11/09/2022 11:51

I don’t seeing people filming it on their phones. I think that’s awful and utterly distasteful.

@CactusJackie
I absolutely agree about the filming with mobile phones. It's so distasteful and also disrespectful. Do people really have to film everything these days "Ooh, look, here's the one I took of the Queen's coffin"...It's wrong. I am a fan of The Queen and very saddened by her death and if I lived nearer I would definitely have paid my respects by watching the hearse pass but I wouldn't be whipping my phone out. It was the same with The King, William and Kate and the sussexes yesterday - members of the public literally shoving mobile phones into their faces.
The rolling coverage isn't so bad as it's very respectful and is being viewed by a global audience.

lollipoprainbow · 11/09/2022 11:57

A bow of the head or a curtsey would be so much more appropriate when she passes by.

Unforgettablefire · 11/09/2022 12:06

@cactusjackie I didn't say you'd said it was offensive but you didn't just say it was a bit odd either you said it was ghoulish.
Instead of lol at people suggesting you don't watch if you don't like it then do that. Switch over.

cactusjackie · 11/09/2022 12:39

@Bbq1 they did the same to Charles when he arrived at Buckingham palace and greeted the public there. He was shaking their hands and rather than look at him they were literally shoving their phones in his face. Awful behaviour.

ShaunaTheSheep · 11/09/2022 12:43

I agree about the phones. I read that one of the King's aides told people to put their phones away, during the walkabout.

Readinginthesun · 11/09/2022 15:30

A couple of friends and I stood at the roadside and watched the cortège go by .
Anne looked devastated.
What struck me was the respectful silence from such a huge crowd .
