The Telegraph is reporting riotous leaving party at No 10 the night before the Queen attended her husband's funeral. We all remember the photograph. Best add nothing more.

Nothing on the tv news about it ?

the80sweregreat · 13/01/2022 22:29

Plus this was in 2021 , what were the rules then ?
I've really lost track, but it must have broken the rules ?
I love how they went up the co op with a suitcase for drinks !!
Class..

the80sweregreat · 13/01/2022 22:32

Seems that it's one long partyyyy at number 10.
With cheese and wine.

CamomileTeabag · 13/01/2022 22:36

If it's the Telegraph breaking the story, then BJ really is finished, no question.

We were in Step 2 of the roadmap out of lockdown in April 2021. See www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-response-spring-2021/covid-19-response-spring-2021-summary

80s I believe the rules then were no more than 6 people from 2 households outside

Number 10’s spokesperson has apologised “unreservedly” for having a party on the Eve of Prince Phillip’s funeral deeply, stating that it’s “regrettable that this took place at a time of national mourning".

longwayoff · 14/01/2022 12:45

Yes. I expect HM feels much better now.

I mean seriously, I'm sure that makes the queen feel so much better. I need to move in to politics, it seems it's one big party.
HeatonGrove · 14/01/2022 12:50

I doubt that Prince Philip would have minded.

BruceAndNosh · 14/01/2022 12:53

How do I get job in Downing Steet?
It sounds like a great place to work.
Cheese and wine "work events" and not giving a fuck.

I am concerned about the rapid turnover of staff since they seem to be having non stop leaving parties

Sheabutterisdelish · 14/01/2022 12:54

I doubt that Prince Philip would have minded.

Don't be so utterly ridiculous, he would have been totally contemptuous at those breaking the law whilst the rest of us were doing what we thought was the right thing, can you really not see that?

HeatonGrove · 14/01/2022 12:58

@Sheabutterisdelish

Are you always so rude?

EdithWeston · 14/01/2022 12:58

It broke all sorts of covid regulations (there are other threads about that)

But it also breached the declaration of formal official mourning.

Kendodd · 14/01/2022 13:06

We elected a clown who takes nothing seriously and lies constantly. Of course this culture is going to infect all around. Johnson's character was crystal clear years ago, we get what we vote for. Shame on everyone who voted for him.

MmeD · 14/01/2022 13:08

I just keep wondering why? Even if it’s not as bad as it’s painted, why? Why didn’t any one of the clever, well educated heads think hmm perhaps we should put this one off? Even if they thoroughly despise the little people, why risk making their own lives difficult with stuff that can look bad if it gets out? Is it a surfeit of money or power that makes them so careless? Is the air on top of entitlement mountain just so thin it makes them dizzy?

I’ve always known there was a difference between intelligence and wisdom, but it’s never seemed so stark or so important.

PearlclutchersInc · 14/01/2022 13:08

This crowd are the most emotionally unintelligent party in the western world - but the public allow them to get away with it.

What would you like the public to do exactly? I want the man gone but I am powerless right now to make that happen.
ButtonSister · 14/01/2022 13:27

The funeral photos were for public consumption. I imagine that some members of the royal family have also been less than scrupulous when it comes to breaking lockdown rules behind closed doors.

Lottapianos · 14/01/2022 13:28

'Johnson's character was crystal clear years ago, we get what we vote for. Shame on everyone who voted for him.'

Completely agree

The Tories need to find a backbone and get those letters in to Graham Brady fast. Just how much more disgraceful do things have to get?

Please explain how @Sheabutterisdelish has been rude Confused

Are you sure that, Covid restrictions aside, that a period of national mourning prevents office workers having leaving do's? I'm not condoning Johnson or his cronies or staff at all but the offence is around breach of lockdown, not affecting the sensibilities of the royals

How is my observation rude? Prince Philip literally gave the whole of his life to duty and service and you think he wouldn't have minded Downing St partying when his beloved wife was about to endure one of the worst days of her life all alone? I was expressing incredulity not rudeness.

It is rude because you disagreed with the poster who called you rude.
