So all the family will be there except Princess Anne and her husband because he has Covid. Presumably Edward and Sophie and their family will be there too.

Who gives a *'#'£&"

You might want to think about hiding this topic, then!! GrendelsGrandma

I think it is far more sensible to have separate smaller gatherings than the huge clan gathering

I thought it was just Charles and Camilla?

Charles and Camilla to join Queen for Christmas Day www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-59769243

But I don’t really see the issue either way?

WinnieTheW0rm · 23/12/2021 20:38

The Wessexes live so close that they're expected to drop in

And no-one mentions Andrew

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 11:33

Yes, I thought Charles and Camilla spending the day there. The Wessex dropping in as they are neighbours. I mean it would be strange to live next door to your mum and not visit her on Christmas Day. I am sure Andrew will either be there or visiting. They just don't mention him in the hope we forget he exists.

Mike Tindall has said some nice things in his podcast about the Queen, her standards and setting an example (putting good of nation agphead of personal feelings). Not just calling off the big family gatherings at Christmas, the whole year:

“The Queen just sets examples for everyone, you know? She’s just a fantastic human being, and what she’s had to endure through her whole life is a credit to who she is and what she does for the nation"

“I mean, you look at what she did in terms of setting examples at the Duke’s funeral; sat on her own, did everything by the book and exposed herself like that. That is what needed to be done in the country at that time"

“Who knew that, whilst she was doing that, politicians were doing everything that they were doing. They should maybe learn from her.”

Topseyt · 24/12/2021 15:53

I don't see the issue. She is sticking within the rules anyway and being fairly cautious. She isn't flouting it the way the politicians have.

I would absolutely hope that a 95 year old would have at least some of her family around her at Christmas.

TheMooch · 24/12/2021 15:57

Are we not allowed to see family this Christmas ?

Janedoe1234 · 24/12/2021 16:00

Good for her! She hasn't got long left! She lost her husband not long ago and will need them around her.

This will be a hard Christmas for the Queen without Philip.

I don't support the institution of the Royal Family but my sympathies will be with the Queen as they would with anyone recently widowed.

Perhaps it will be better for the Queen that they're not at Sandringham as usual - doing something different might be better than the usual routine, but without Philip.

What exactly has she ‘had to endure her whole life’?
