Will RF Self Isolate before Christmas Day?

The Christmas Day celebrations are planned to go ahead as normal with various RF members joining the Queen for the day's celebrations. I am sure she will want to see them. But bearing in mind her age, do you think the RF members will self-isolate to protect her during this visit?

I am not having a go, Julieca. I just thought it was a bit of an odd choice for a whole thread as it can’t really go anywhere 🤷‍♀️

julieca · 15/12/2021 18:18

Oh okay, sorry I thought you were.
I'm not expecting a long thread. It was just an idle thought.

Thinking idly, the Queen could be in a room on her own having her turkey, near to the others and being able to wave through to them, and after they've eaten she could have a little nap and they could all isolate themselves outside on a jolly three-hour walk.

The Mail is saying that the Queen and 50 members of her family will be meeting up for Christmas as usual. I doubt very much that 50 people will be self-isolating, so that answers that question.

50?

Flippin' heck... poor staff having to cater for that lot and missing their families on Christmas Day.

SallyLockheart · 16/12/2021 07:48

it sounds as though it is held before the 25th, so no, not on Christmas day itself.

WinnieTheW0rm · 16/12/2021 09:48

Well they were talking about them all going to church this year. I suspect that might not happen after all

WinnieTheW0rm · 16/12/2021 09:51

@SallyLockheart

it sounds as though it is held before the 25th, so no, not on Christmas day itself.
In a non-pandemic year, there's usually a big gathering in London for the wider family, so maybe that's the 50?

Then HMQ buggers off to Sandringham with her immediate family (and all their descendants) for the Christmas season.

julieca · 16/12/2021 10:36

You're right it is not on Christmas Day itself, just reread the article. It is called the annual Christmas lunch. But fifty people is a lot and during a pandemic is at risk of being a super spreading event.

Makes sense.
That article though had to have a little dig at Meghan and Harry by saying Lilli was the only grandchild not due to be there. The kids don't even eat with the adults. They eat in a totally separate room with nannies. So of course she wasn't going to be there.

I really hope that at some point there is an official photo of the Queen with all her DGGC

julieca · 16/12/2021 19:35

@EdithWeston I doubt it very much.

I think the Queen's looking quite frail now.

julieca · 17/12/2021 17:29

Yes I agree she is. I remember this with my own grandparents. They went through a stage of being very elderly and looking it, but not too bad, to suddenly looking incredibly frail and properly very old.

The Queen is not now going to Sandringham for Christmas. Family expected to visit her at Windsor, but they wont be mixing en masse
