Just read an article on BBC news about an interview with Sophie Wessex. She is discussing the DoE's death and how it's left a big hole in their lives. The article then goes on to say how she and Edward have stepped up since H and M's departure for the USA. Apparently, the article goes on to say they have been dubbed the magnificent seven, to include the Queen, Charles and Camilla, William and Kate and Sophie and Edward.

Absolutely no mention of Anne, the Princess Royal, who by all accounts is still one of the hardest-working Royals. If I were her I be most put out by this most obvious exclusion.

So it wasn’t Sophie Wessex who excluded her but the publication?

MagicSummer · 16/06/2021 08:38

I agree with you that Princess Anne is one of the hardest-working Royals; however, from what I've seen, perhaps she prefers to be out of the limelight, just quietly getting on with her work, rather than being seen as part of a 'Magnificent Seven'!

No It was merely stated in the article that they have now been 'dubbed' the Magnificent Seven.

Maybe she can’t be arsed any more and is keen not to be included. That’s how I’d feel. Maybe also keeping low profile due to the Oprah interview insinuations.

The Duchess of Wessex was being interviewed by the BBC (Radio 5 Live) ahead of the United Nations' international day for the elimination of sexual violence in conflict, which is this upcoming Saturday - Source.

I think it's a shame that a journalistic 'slip' regarding a so-called 'Magnificent Seven' has been given greater attention than the actual important subject matter of the interview.

According to numerous other publications, the 'The Magnificent Seven' are:

1). Prince of Wales
2). Duchess of Cornwall
3). Prince William
4). Duchess of Cambridge
5). Prince Edward
6). Duchess of Wessex
7). Princess Anne

HMQ is not included in the count, as these are supposedly the group who have 'stepped up' to support her since the death of Prince Philip.

Ninkanink · 16/06/2021 09:37

As pp said, HMQ is not included in the seven.

I heard part of Sophie's interview today - she impressed me. A shocking topic, and some really traumatic incidences discussed.

Apparently when it was suggested that 'she'd stepped up' lately, it was dismissed, saying that she's continuing doing the work she's been doing, it's just that the media have only latched on to it of late.

As an aside, at times she reminded me of Diana.

EdithWeston · 16/06/2021 12:23

The Countess of Wessex has done a great deal of work internationally on issues affecting women and girls, such as with Freedom From Fistula, visit in Sierra Leone to a centre that assists child rape victims, making speeches against FGM and child exploitation and much, much more.

It's a shame the press don't seem interested in covering this angle of what she does.

I sgree the Magnificent Seven are the people who stepped up to help the Queen instead of scuttling off to make billions.

Are you incapable of discussing the royal family without bringing Harry and Meghan into it? This thread wasn't even about them.
SunshineCake · 19/06/2021 19:07

The Princess Royal would not care about being missed out, if she was, no take any truck with such nonsense.
