I have recorded this to watch later. It's quite long 90 minutes. We don't often see William speaking on the TV so it will be good to see how he and Kate come across. It's on at 9 pm. Hope it's interesting. Anyone else planning to watch it.

I'm actually changing my opinion on him. I just don't think he's as sweet and decent as he makes out. I think he's pretty petulant and entitled.

ssd · 05/10/2020 20:40

I think Kate puts up with a lot.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 05/10/2020 20:54

What channel is it on please?

Viviennemary · 05/10/2020 21:28

It's on ITV. So there is plus 1 if you missed the start.

It’s very good.

Thanks Smile

@SSD

I agree. I also think Kate puts up with a lot and I fear she will have a lot more to put up with as time goes on.
I'm beginning to wonder if this is the beginning of the end for the royal family as now that the light has shone on them a bit I don't think the public will be willing to pour the millions into them without question as before.

AnyFucker · 06/10/2020 08:50

What is with various members of the Royal Family becoming tv presenters and producers

Experts now, are they ? I hate being preached at by some of the most priveliged and entitled people in the world. Get back to the fucking day job, why don't you.

Disfordarkchocolate · 06/10/2020 08:57

I'm not a fan of William at all and the whole 'rich saviour' of Africa/ wildlife makes me very uncomfortable.

Pick a cause close to home and put some effort into that (see The Prince's Trust and the Duke of Edinburgh award scheme).

I couldn't agree with this more.
AnyFucker · 06/10/2020 09:17

How about focussing on something like child poverty in the uk. Something to get your well-bred teeth into, hey ?

Samcro · 06/10/2020 10:10

has he given up hunting and using private planes?

Of course not Samcro.

Isn't it amazing that when W&K do a documentary which, to be honest, comes from this incredibly privileged position and which I find a tad hypocritical... no one comments.

Yet when his brother and wife do something really quite worth listening to, there is a frenzy of dislike and outrage.

perfumeistooexpensive · 06/10/2020 12:17

I won't watch it. I don't like this trend of the Royals and their recent interest on being on tv. The monarchy needs to drastically change. The life of privilege being thrust in our faces doesn't work in the 21st century. Kate's appearance isn't that of a happy woman.

Eaumyword · 06/10/2020 14:09

I don't mind W&K at all but agree with pp that such privileged people shouldn't preach to save the world when they don't live a normal humble life themselves. I'm so over any wealthy celebrities - but particularly royalty - telling us what to do when they have multiple residences, wealth beyond belief, excessive travel and a large personal carbon footprint.
I also agree that focusing on British child poverty, or homelessness, or the more low key charities who can't afford a marketing budget, would gain my personal respect a lot more.
The trend for zooms/videos calling for change from the comfort of a stately home make me grind my teeth!

Is it only unacceptable to focus on African wildlife? I've watched some of the programme and at least one of the projects highlighted (scallop fishing in Ullapool) was in the UK. Is that out of bounds as well?

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 06/10/2020 17:19

I thought it was very good, lots of attention on projects initiated and carried out by children, as well as highlighting the conservation work being undertaken in Africa. I enjoyed his contribution, which was pretty low key.

But his brother and his wife don’t say anything really quite worth listening to either. It’s all regurgitated bleeding obvious stuff from both couples.
JamieLeeCurtains · 06/10/2020 17:31

I've never taken to William. He's a bit up himself.

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 06/10/2020 17:36

Possibly, but the programme was about much more than William. I learned about projects which I'll now be interested to follow.
JamieLeeCurtains · 06/10/2020 17:45

@Myimaginarycathadfleas, I guess that is a problem the Royal Family will have to face 'going forward'. I didn't watch the programme because I find William annoying. I can't be the only one.

Myimaginarycathadfleas · 06/10/2020 17:57

That's a perfectly legitimate reason for not watching, Jamie. I'd be the same about any other presenter who I didn't like. I'm just saying that it was a good programme, if you don't have those reservations.

lakeswimmer · 06/10/2020 18:01

He’s a massive hypocrite. He likes to portray himself as an ambassador for environmental conservation but he’s had THREE children.

If there is one person in the UK who is expected to have children surely it's someone in direct line to the throne. It's pretty much top of the job description Grin. An heir, a spare and an extra one in case it all goes tits up.

I care about the environment - particularly loss of biodiversity in the UK and around the world. I also have three children. Am I a massive hyprocrite too?
