@Voila212 Did the Duke of Windsor lose his hrh after abdicating - no, he didn't.
At least, it is debatable whether he lost it and had it reinstated, or never lost it.
After the abdication, George VI created him Duke of Windsor, a royal Duke with the style HRH, but the Letters Patent specified that his wife and descendants(if any) would not be entitled to the HRH. The question was hotly debated as to whether he had actually lost the HRH by abdicating. If not, then his wife would also be entitled to it. But if he had lost it and had it regranted by Letters Patent, then his wife could be excluded, which may be why it was done this way. Also, as a Royal Duke, he could not speak in the House of Lords on political subjects - which could have been very embarrassing for the King and the Government.
The Duke of Windsor resented this massively and always insisted on his household referring to his wife as HRH.
