They just want to be together and live as normal a life as they can. Don't blame them at all. Harry saw the press come for his wife , and his family didn't like her. This is also a kid who saw his mum made lonely and unhappy due to not fitting in to the family, and harassed and killed due to paparazzi. What was he supposed to do? He is just trying to protect his family and find some peace and happiness.

With the Queen's blessing, the Sussexes will continue to maintain their private patronages and associations

I might have been wrong. What is a "private" patronage?

So I’m guessing ‘Sussex Royal’ will be no more? A move from the RF to stop them being able to cash in on being Royalty.

More detail is coming through and it still stays 'will not use' the HRH rather than 'have renounced' or 'have been stripped of'. I think they will still be Royal Highnesses but won't call themselves that - unlike when Diana divorced Charles and was formally stripped of her HRH status.

I really hope this makes them happy and they don't divorce - I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Wouldn't it be great if the monarchy was more streamlined and members could choose to live independent lives and support themselves? I'm not a monarchist and really don't see the point of supporting more than the monarch and her heirs. I don't think I could handle the life of the 'spare' - it must feel like being trapped in amber.

I wonder how long till the divorce.

Why would they divorce? Yes I know as I'm divorced I wouldn't wish it on anyone either

@CrazyToast totally agree with your opinion 100%

Not been stripped of titles at all. They won’t use them - I’m guessing that was their choice and the wording was carefully chosen so who made that call was not clear. Half way house. They are HRHs but won’t use the term Hmm

They turned down titles for Archie, unless they state otherwise I'd assume they didn't want the HRH styling. They are not reserved for paid royals.

The "discusssions for months" does rather put to the lie all the stories about this being dumped on the rest of the family without warning.

A move from the RF to stop them being able to cash in on being Royalty

Well since plenty of the other royals cash in on their royalty quite shamelessly that would seem fairly pointless.

Surely if they are still the duke and duchess of Sussex though it’s not exactly any different?

It’s a shame they didn’t go straight to the Queen in the first place, they would have come out of this so much better.

The Palace statement says that discussions have been ongoing for months. So they did, unless the Queen is lying.

Totallly agree. It cant be good for them or the country for that matter to have people live that ridiculous life. I mean clearly they have no clue what 'living an ordinary life' is like. Thats why they all feel so hard done by. Harry is about to be taught a harsh lesson in paying his own bills. I hope they don't divorce either. people who do are wishing a much loved child is separated for long periods from either his mother or his father.

Will he still be styled as Prince Harry?

Or just waited then I supposed for the Queen to announce it first. Now it looks like they wanted to keep everything and got told no.

I really, really can't see these two going to distance, for whatever reason, and I do wonder what will happen if they get divorced? Would Harry be allowed back into the fold?

For now, I hope they can just get on with their lives with their baby.

It affects precedence within the Royal Family. If a HRH is removed it means you come after everyone else who has one, and have to curtsey to them etc. Commoners would not be expected to curtsey to a Duke who was not a HRH.

I remember reading that Princess Michael of Kent told Diana not to curtsey to her after her HRH was removed, even though she should have done, because she sympathised with Diana.

Hmm- 'won't use their titles'.

This does not mean they have been stripped of them or that they will lose them. And I'm thinking that because they are just 'not using' the HRH title, they will still be internationally protected people and so the British taxpayers will still pick up their security costs.

Paying back the renovation money for Frogmore is such a PR exercise. Probably to sweeten the blow of the security costs imho.

Not stripped 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄

Happy for them! And all of you saying you hope they don't divorce??? Such pathetic views because divorce could still happen with or without the clownery of this whole thing. You wish for this to be such a bad decision so much hey? 😂😂

Apparently so - Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex

Very emotive language @KenAdams. Did you do that intentionally?

It's a mutual agreement I'd say.

They have agreed not to hold onto their HRY titles and I suspect they CHOSE that option rather than the Queen 'stripping' them.

You are a bit goady :)
