... according to the Order of Service released today.

Only a small point, given the role she's taking up - but something.

Well good for her, why should she? I wouldn't - and indeed didn't!

ChippyMinton · 28/04/2011 18:09

Does anyone, these days?
I didn't.

hocuspontas · 28/04/2011 18:10

I should think not! This is the 21st Century after all.
Diana didn't either IIRC.

LadyCornyOfSilk · 28/04/2011 18:11

is he?

mandoo · 28/04/2011 18:12

I think she'll find she is!

Marrying into that family, who does she think she's kidding!

Rhinestone · 28/04/2011 18:12

Three friends of mine did! THREE!

One of them really didn't want to but her husband to be threw a complete hissy fit over it. He's not popular amongst our friends.

darleneconnor · 28/04/2011 18:13

thank fuck for that

I was quite disappointed when Sophie did a few years ago. At least it shows some movement of the monarchy into the 21st century.

drivingmisscrazy · 28/04/2011 18:14

why is there such a fuss about this - the vow of obedience hasn't been in the Anglican liturgy for some years, see here - they are just following the usual order of service!!

Rhinestone · 28/04/2011 18:16

Yeah, even the C of E thinks it's primitive and outdated!

ChickensHaveNoEyebrows · 28/04/2011 18:19

I didn't think anyone 'obeyed' any more. I think I loved, comforted and cared for

Skifit · 28/04/2011 19:54

Good for her.... I didnt!!

ShimmeryPixie · 28/04/2011 19:56

I did. I like that service.

meditrina · 28/04/2011 20:35

1662 is just so much nicer language - especially starting off with the brute beasts and the carnal lusts.

ShimmeryPixie: in return for promising to obey, did he endow you properly? (none of this wishy washy "share" business).

OP posts:
ShimmeryPixie · 28/04/2011 20:37

He did indeed endow me properly. He also pledged me his troth.

drivingmisscrazy · 28/04/2011 20:37

agree that 1662 sounds much much nicer (I'm gay, so hardly arises in any sense other than the theoretical/aesthetic!)

ShimmeryPixie · 28/04/2011 20:39

Sadly the chaplain changed 'fornication' to 'sin'. It would've sounded amazing in his broad Irish accent too...

Zorayda · 28/04/2011 20:44

My sister did. You could hear the intake of breath from all the feminists in the church! It's so outmoded. They are very religious though - didn't move in together until after the wedding and were both going to wear white to symbolise their purity.

It was a long (and mostly dry) day.
