Happy Black Cat Day

[Davros]

National Black Cat Day was created by Cats Protection on 27 October 2011 to help celebrate the majesty of monochrome moggies and beautiful black cats. When the campaign was launched, statistics revealed that black and black-and-white cats took, on average, seven days longer to find a home compared to cats of other colours.

Moppet, 6 months old, is not impressed with her hat 🐈‍⬛

Thank you. He's also a genius level plotter of naughtiness and when he's told off he Doesn't Care, but I love him so much. 💙😁

This is my dear boy, who sadly left us last week after a couple of years of declining health. Today is also Dia de los Muertos for pets, so twice the reason to light a candle for him tonight x

aw @FettleOfKish he looks lovely. They all do 😿 thanks for all the photos

Our panthers (Mini House Variety)

Female sprawled on the floor , beautifully placed for someone to trip over !
Male pretending to be fierce in the shrubs . IRL he is the scardiest cat imaginable !
Both CPL cats and strangely they were the last in their litter to be homed .

Awwww, what a poppet. I'm sorry he's gone.

@70isaLimitNotaTarget Your cat on the right really does look like a panther!

it's all smoke'n'mirrors , he's an utter wimp !

My 14 week old little girl Maple and her brother Benson

Herw is Ozzy named after Ozzy Osbourne the prince of darkness. He's 8 months old

@Catmum40 GREAT name for a black cat - Ozzy!

😆

@EltonJohnsSunglasses Your two are beauties! 😄

This is my mum's kitten, adopted from Cats Protection at the end of August. He's called John Boy & had very bad cat flu & had to have his wee eye removed. He's around 5 months old.

Alaska identifies as a black cat.

Happy national black cat day from our three

Hilarious, naughty Alaska!

My little boy (🫣) is 11. Typical tuxedo, noisiest cat I’ve ever had!

No photos to share as I don’t have a cat. Just wanted to say I don’t get why black cats are less popular! They are so sleek and elegant and dramatic looking, I want one!

Thank you

Mama, did.we miss Black Cat Day?

Better late than never! Love from our little White Fang x

Apparently they are much harder to get good photos of 🙄

There's also the old superstition of black cats & witchcraft, bad luck etc. Plus of course a dark single colour coat is less striking looking than most others in some people's minds (sigh).

My current black cat is actually charcoal tabby so you see the dark grey stripes on her head in some lights, and is also a smoke so has a silver undercoat, so her colourings aren't just very unusual but also stealth colouring

Missed this!

All these beautiful mini panthers ❤️

My first childhood cat was a tiny little rescue black cat called Samantha. She had only one brain cell, was as thick as shit, neurotic and needy but the most loving affectionate cat ever. She was a terrible thief too and would steal chicken and pork chops off your plate, she was mostly barred from mealtimes 😹

She also HATED going outside for some inexplicable reason, we lived in a village next to fields but she was too much of a snowflake to go out 🙄

She died at the age of 17 almost 40 years ago and I still miss her, the little fruit loop 🐈‍⬛

"Yes, Ikea sofa , fear me"

He has a scratching post/ cat tower easily 5' tall .
He reckons the poor sofa should feel the wrath of his mighty claws .

2 seconds later , DD tells him "No. Dex" and he grumbles off , twitching his back , then returns to the scene for another go at the sofa .
<sigh>

My pretty little Pippy 🖤
