Does waiting for a missing cat to come home get easier?

My little boy has been missing for a couple of days now - have done the usual speak to neighbours and social media.

Does waiting for them get any easier? I’m a mess!! Every small sound or creek on the stairs I’m jumping up.

Really hope he’s home soon, he’s my best mate and I’m really struggling without him.

No, not for a long time at least
However, I'm sharing some advice from a cat magazine that worked for us. I hope your boy will be home soon. ♥️

BRING A LOST CAT HOME:

Saw this in a magazine at the vet's office. Apparently cats can smell up to a mile away. The advice for bringing a lost kitty home was this:

Put his used litter box under your porch or near your door. Make a trail of used litter from the street to the box. I turned on my porch light, too.

Our cat had gotten outside and was gone for 8 days. I made the litter trail, put a box of used litter under the steps, and prayed that she'd catch the scent. 20 minutes later my husband looked out the kitchen door and she was waiting on the mat to come in.

TWENTY minutes. I'm sure we got exceptionally quick results, but it must work for a lot of people. It was like a miracle to see her in front of the door.

I hope you find your furbaby. I realize you may have cleaned the box, but if any other cats have used it, yours will still recognize the scent. At
least that's what happened for us.

Also, please post on missing pet sites in your area and Facebook.

I just put the litter tray out and my other cat has come back from wherever he had been sunning himself today (he is more aloof and goes for a day or two!)

Fingers crossed it works 🤞🏼

It’s very warm weather which means they love being out and about (within reason and finding shady spots). Don’t lose hope but I’d be beside myself like you. Hope he’s home soon 🙏

I hope he comes home soon. Mine went missing and i was worried seek. She appeared 10 days later in the neighbours garden.

My daughter's cat didn't come back for 18 weeks, but she did finally return.

I hope your cat comes back soon. It's awful when they disappear. One of mine was gone for three days.

Thanks guys! He came back smelling of musty old shed, I think I was most worried about him being stuck in the heat!

Although having spoken to most of my neighbours I’ve found out he does a tour of visiting other houses most evenings 😂

Oh thank goodness!

Phew, glad to read the update.

Woman on a forum years ago wanted to find a good home for a cat that'd been living in her garden all summer (her DH was highly allergic and cat couldn't go in the house) - I drove 50 minutes across London. Vet next day and cat was chipped, had been missing for 10 months.

I've acquired a big lad in the last 12 months - kept turning up at night, then during the day, sleeping in my garage. Vet - he is chipped but the chip wasn't registered, so he's mine now. Disappeared for 2 days and I was beside myself. Lay awake all night, checking out the window, walked the streets at dusk calling him. Woke up in the morning and he's asleep on the bottom of my bed. My poor heart!
