Cat drinking fountain?

Yes or no?

I’m mesmerised by the ads extolling the benefit of a fountain, rather than a bowl.

Would this be a waste of money?

Any tips?

Mine drinks from his but still jumps in the bathrooms sink and tub hoping we'll turn the tap on for him.

My cat (and dog) loves his!

Brilliant for mine but very annoyed I cannot now get replacement filters and believe me I have exhausted all avenues 🙈

The dog we sat for a fortnight had one. It needs daily cleaning. Not a huge chore as a bowl does, although more parts!
He seemed to like it.

One of my cats loves it. The other one will only drink out of other people’s glasses. Tricky buggers.

Thank you for all the fountain feedback. I think I’ll make the investment…

I’ve had them in the past and my cats have really loved them but we live in a really hard water area and the pumps always seem to die after a few months. Has anyone solved this? I tried descaling one and that just killed it anyway!

They're just fish tank pumps. We lift off the top and clean off the scale when it's washed.

We have a cat one and a dog one, they love it, drink more and have less smelly pee (kitty)

Mine will drink from still water but much prefer their fountain.

Mine has a filter we change every 6 weeks or so and it’s lasted really well!

I bought a cat fountain - cats wouldn’t go near it. They preferred water in a mug, or they would jump into the bath until someone turned in the tap, so a little pool of water formed. (They had us well trained - one of them would only eat its food on the stairs…)

I honestly have no idea where my cat drinks from, I never see him drink. I don't even put a bowl out any more. He clearly does get water. We have a stream at the bottom of the garden so I assume he must drink there. I expect if I got him a fountain he would ignore it.
