Where is the best place to find a kitten?

For various reasons we are not eligible to adopt a cat.

We lost our beloved moggy last year and would like a kitten of the same colour.

Where's the best place to look please?

Are you looking for an indoor only cat? Do you have/will you install a catio? If so, would you consider an FIV+ cat?

I will ask around at local vets.

Despite the road we live rurally and do need a cat for mousing purposes as well as cuddles.

It wouldn't be possible to keep the cat indoors and I wouldn't want to for their wellbeing anyway.

No to FIV and not on Facebook/Insta.

Ok. That's useful info.

I think it's fair that rescues are cautious with placing kittens in homes with small children and/or by busy roads.

An older cat with some street smarts might be a better option. I'm rural on a main-ish B road, but have acres of countryside behind, and have adopted from both Blue Cross and RSPCA. Last cat had never lived in a house, but he was the most perfectly socialised cat ever, the estate's six dinner sid; current girl is a former semi-feral stray. So, in both cases the cats were used to roads and looking out for themselves.
