Cats bringing lots of ticks in, yuck. How do I fix it?

We have 2 cats, outdoor, very chilled, had them years. For the first time ever, we have been finding 15-20 baby ticks in the places they sleep (mainly our beds). HELP!

Took them to the vet and got them all dosed up (worming and flea spots). Vet said that ticks don't bother cats and usually just get eaten, but it bothers me to see so many on my bed! It's happened 4 times, the cats are no longer allowed on beds or laps (they are sad and discombobulated), the sofas have dust sheets.

What else can I do? I assume my garden is infested (yeuch) but it's communal so not much I can do. We're in and out a lot so pretty sure they would escape if we tried to keep them in.

What is going on? How long will it last? Has this happened to you?

Which flea treatment are you using? We use Bravecto which kills ticks as well because our cat roams in fields and comes home with ticks attached. If your cat is coming home with that many then maybe they are rolling about in vegetation where ticks are laying eggs. You can get garden sprays but you could also look at trimming back long grass etc.

You need a flea and tick treatment for them, different ones treat different things. Ours had a lice infestation once that drove me insane. Kept treating them over and over then realised I wasn't buying the right treatment, never seen them again.

No point treating the outside if it's communal and cats wander anyway. If they're treated for ticks and still bringing them in I wouldn't be letting them out. They'll survive.
