Cat not using litter tray and off food, emergency vet tonight?

My 11 year old cat has been off her food since last night. Had some wet food this morning, about half a tea spoon, and then she vomited it together with a tiny but very firm hariball. Since then I fed her some boiled chicken - two teaspoons with some liquid - and she drank some water but that’s it. She’s grumpy and sleeping a lot, and she hasn’t used the litterbox since last night. It’s unusual as there is always at least one pee in the morning but maybe less unsual based on the fact she hasn’t eaten much. I’m a very anxious owner. I video called the insurance-provided vet around noon and they said it’s not an emergency “yet” but now it’s 8pm and nothing has changed and im really worried.

Emergency vet or not? It’s about 40 min drive, and she’s not great in the car so that’s also my consideration.

I had a male cat that had this but he actually had a very serious kidney infection. Kept vomitting and not using his tray. He did start hiding in his litter tray also which wasnt normal. I had to have him put to sleep he was very poorly. You know your cat,
id get her checked out certainly. Hope shes okay

Hmm it's always a hard call but I'd call them back and see if they now think she should be seen
Best of luck

I’m so sorry about your boy. I know it can be really serious, but I’m hoping maybe it’s just a hairball. She ate a little bit of food now which is good but I’ve booked another call with the video vet just to check whether ok to keep her at home if she hasn’t used the litter box

Thank you. I booked another video call just to check what they say. Better safe than sorry

Sounds like my cat at the moment. I posted on here earlier about her.
I also did the vidivet consultation over the weekend and was advised to monitor her or bring her in, she rallied a bit so I just took her to vets today and they want to do bloods in the morning. She’s got chronic kidney disease (been in a renal diet for 4 years) so they’ll check her creatinine and other functions.

Symptoms are:,She’s mainly hiding in the corner, eating minuscule amounts of regular food (although will eat treat food) and sleeping. She’s done a wee thus evening but no poo since Friday I think 🤷‍♀️
I would say if your cat is eating a bit and drinking it could wait until morning. If they don’t eat at all for 24 hours it’s a medical emergency so bear that in mind - keep trying with the food - treats etc.
Hope both our cats are ok.

Do you have any tinned sardines or herring in oil? If so try a little bit of fish and some of the fish oil to see if it will help her in case she needs help with getting rid of a hairball.
