Where do you keep your litter trays, and how do you stop them from making the flat smell?

Does your cat go out and wait to be let back in? Or is it indoor only?

I have no outdoor space so she’s an indoor cat. Litter tray is in the bathroom. Remove poop immediately, clean the tray and replace the litter every 5 days or so.

I’m pretty sure my flat doesn’t smell but can’t guarantee I’m not nose blind!

Five days of cat pee is going to stink. My cat is elderly now and predominantly indoors. We never had a litter tray until last year as he always went out to go to the toilet. I line the litter tray with half a puppy pad before putting the litter on top and on day 2 the smell of pee annoys me. After dcat goes I'll never have another pet, my sense of smell has really heightened as I've gotten older and it's really awful 😭

Mine is by the front door, tbh it's the best place as I don't go past it at all once I'm inside so I don't see it, also I can open the window above it without it getting too cold elsewhere.
I've gone through all types of litter to try and avoid the smell and am just trialling silica litter, hoping it works better as I didn't realise how it worked before, will see how long it lasts!

Can you get corn litter? It is the best for absorbing smells and lasts a really long time. We use World’s Best Unscented: best litter I’ve ever bought.

Second this. We also use worlds best and it’s great.

Corn litter is amazing we changed to it last year b&m do it but still wouldn't leave it for 5 days however it nowhere near smells as bad as wood pellet or clumping ones etc...our tray is a hooded one and in the bathroom put the way

Cats best clumping, green bag ‘smart pellets’, no smells and the only thing I’ve actually found that is non tracking.
