Encouraging old girl to eat more

We got back from the annual jabs visit to the vet yesterday. She has lost 12 per cent of her weight in a year! She is 16. The vet asked me to encourage her to eat more. Any idea how? She LOVES biscuits (which she has in the morning) and is less certain about wet food, which I was giving her in the evening until yesterday. Yesterday evening I gave her wet food AND biscuits and she did a good job at both.

Obviously I will carry on in the same way, but has anyone had similar and succeeded in getting weight on a too-skinny old lovely cat, please? And how did you do it? Thanks!

Another elderly cat owner here. The cat that is, not me. He's the skinniest cat in the neighborhood, his arch enemy is so fat he waddles.

He's 16 and always been a picky eater with a dodgy tummy. We recently discovered he had hyperthyroidism and he's doing well on treatment. Before that he was eating for two and losing weight. Now he's back to surviving on fresh air.
I can't vary his food because any change gives him the squits and he won't eat.
anything different.
Some great tips here.

I have started giving him a probiotic paste along with lik e lix which he loves. I'd never heard of either but read about them on here. I sometimes add a spoon of hot water to wet food which I guess is similar to heating it up. I've never given him scraps or tidbits but might try. I've always been restrained with dreamies but I should remember he's a cat not a toddler....

I wondered about getting kitten food as I assume it's higher calorie?

My old lady (nearly 20) doesn’t eat as much as she used to and tends to lick the gravy and leave the chunks behind. We’ve found that sprinkling the leftovers in Fortiflora (made by Purina) makes them much more delicious- it seems to really enhance the palatability as well as whatever probiotic effect it’s meant to have!

We also have several types of pouches on the go and never know which she wants. We only give a little at once, but if the pouch has been opened for sometime (anything from 15 mins to a few hours) it's too 'old'. However she may deign to eat some of it from a fork.

Mine likes the applaws senior pate and broths, also any cat soup and licklicks. We have to watch too much protein due to borderline kidney issues but as an odd treat he adores soft cod roe 🤢

@Ilovemyshed I started using Ipakitine powder with my old puss, someone on here recommended it and my
vet concurred. I used to give it in Lick e Lix. He wasn’t a fan of any of the kidney food and it helps to bind the protein (If I recall correctly).
