Moving house with cat again!

My Mum got a cat when I lived at home with her and she became “my” cat and came with me when I moved out.
I now have two children and we’re upsizing so will be moving again!
Has anyone else moved a few times with a cat and it’s been fine? Do you have a cat proof garden and does it work? The new house has large bifold doors into the garden so not sure a catio would work. Should I just keep her indoors?

A little background…
My Mum’s house had quite a few roads around and she grew up navigating them but could avoid them by exploring the allotment out the back if she wanted.
We then moved to a house where our garden backs onto other gardens and there are gardens either side so I think she mainly explores in this area and not close to the roads.
Our next house is a corner plot with a garden on the side so if she jumps any of the fences she will head straight onto a road, not a main road, but residential.
She is 14 years old and has always been an outdoor cat. I feel it would be cruel to try to transition her to being indoors but it may also be safer for her.
We took her into consideration when viewing properties and didn’t view anything on a main road, and this new house has so many wonderful opportunities for my children it can’t be missed.
My cat could also be venturing out to dance in the roads at night right now and I would be none the wiser!
Any advice? Maybe I’m being too precious?

I have a ginger girl as well, she looks a lot like yours! Could you cat proof the fencing so she can’t jump out? I think it’s quite expensive though if it’s a big garden.

@paint101Oh how lovely 🥰 I’ve heard they’re somewhat uncommon so lucky us! I think cat proofing might be the way to go! There is one window in the house that will guide her in a direction away from the road but it’s not practical long term
I’m a very anxious cat Mum but I don’t like to think of keeping her in
I would like it if she just remained in the garden but it’s wishful thinking isn’t it! Hopefully she’ll stay home a bit more as she gets older

My sandy ginger boy is just the same colour, tail rings and all.

I'm sure she'll be fine. It could be worth putting her in a cattery for a few days over the move, so you are all sorted in the new place when she arrives.
