Please may I ask how much you are paying in medical insurance for your cat? Mine is 13, 14 this year and helpucover has gone from £43.50 to £93.59! No claims for about 5 years.its crazy!

I’m tempted to put £25 away each month instead of insurance.

I was paying £130 a month for one of my previous cats. But since her and her sister ran up bills of £19k I had no complaints!

Pashazade · 22/04/2026 18:51

@Toddlerteaplease what was that for? I thought £5k for brain surgery was steep!

Multiple issues in two cats!

£70 monthly with Petplan for a 13 year old for £7k cover. He cost Petplan over £8k during an 18 month period 5 years ago when he had all his teeth taken out, then had mouth cancer treatment at a specialist (2 visits) and then had to see a vet dental specialist to remove all the tooth remnants that had been left behind by my vet when he had his teeth removed. People who say that they put £50 away in a savings account each month instead of paying a monthly insurance premium are taking a big risk as they could find themselves in a heartbreaking situation where their pet's life could be saved but they don't have anywhere near enough money in their savings account to pay for it. I don't think people realise how much vet bills can soon add up nowadays.

I use Agria and pay £20 a month (for two cats). This entitles me to up to £7’000 a year worth of treatment per cat.
