My boy eyeing up nest

Sits for hours in garden looking up longingly. Rationally I know he can’t get it as it’s too high but still feel uneasy.. such a hunter. Consolation prize was a mouse today. I need to keep him in don’t I.

We keep our cat in overnight and he’s in if we’re out, but no, I wouldn’t stop him being outdoors otherwise. He doesn’t tend to roam or hunt much to be fair. We had magpies nesting a few years back and they actually terrorised our previous cat when the babies were born!

That’s funny never heard of a magpie terrorising a cat! Ours is always in at night and can’t get out of our garden anyway. He still has a very high success rate!

Cats are obligate carnivores with an instinctive urge to hunt.

If you aren't willing to accept this, perhaps a rabbit might be a more suitable pet.

Many years ago the beautiful cat next door dragged a magpie in through her cat flap. After that the magpies declared war on all the cats so my poor cat was barely able to go out.

My Maine coin, at age five, has suddenly discovered his ability to hunt so two days in a row I’ve come down to a dead mouse. Still not keeping him in .
