Help! Overwhelmed just thinking about giving cat medication 3x a day

Our young cat (6 months old) has been put on anti-seizure medication, most likely for life. She has a diagnosis of probable traumatic injury very early in life which caused mild brain abnormalities so there’s nothing which can be fixed or cured. The medication they’re hoping will reduce the seizures and be a good fit needs to be given 3x a day in liquid form. Yikes. I’ve managed thyroid medicine in a much much older cat but this feels quite overwhelming every day for the next 15+ years!

I had similar with my last cat- is it keppra?
it’s quite palatable if it is.
The middle of the day dose I mixed with a spoonful of his favourite food and I bought a food timer. (As we are out during the day)
Wasnt too bad when I got used to it- and most importantly sorted really bad seizures for some years

And to add keppra slow release is now on human market (and has been for a few years) so might be licenced for other animals soon- then a once only dose per day (but tablet probably which isn’t easy for cats!)

She’s on a 0.9ml dose of levetiracetam, didn’t look thrilled to take it but managed to get it all in across 3 squirts, and then she buried her face in her food bowl so hopefully took any lingering taste away. She’s having seizures every week so hopeful this will at least reduce the frequency. Currently keeping fingers & toes crossed that the insurance company pays out for all of her tests.

Awww, poor girl. My boy had epilepsy - liquid epiphen twice a day. He had terrible seizures when young but they did get less as he got older. He and I both got used to giving him his meds - he had it through a dropper so I needed to be in (or I got a pet sitter) to make sure he took it. He lived 16 years (just lost him a fortnight ago) and he was the sweetest boy. I am sure your girl will get used to it, and hopefully will live a long, mostly seizure-free life with you.

Keppra is levetiracetam.

He was on 1.5mls in his food so you can probably mix it in wet food too. Less stressful for both of you.

I used lik-e-liks recently for one of mine, it went down a treat. Might be a bit expensive as its going to be permanent but it's good to keep in if you can't get it in any other way. Poor little kitty, hope she is ok. 😻💐

A timer food bowl will take away a lot of the hassle. Just set it each morning.
