How to treat cat chin acne.

The cat keeps scratching under his chin so his acne isn't having time to heal. What's the best treatment for this?

Our cat had this. We went to vets. They said bathe with salt water on cotton wool. Also clean the things being rubbed if that’s what they are doing. Our was rubbing chin on some filthy fence post.

One of my cats had this. The vet advised daily cleansing by gently rubbing the area with a small flannel dipped in diluted Hibiscrub (warm water).

And also swap food and water bowls/fountains to stainless steel or ceramic that you can hot wash to remove bacteria, rather than plastic. Would the cat be amenable to staying indoors for a few days while it heals, in case it’s making it worse drinking or scratching on something outside?

Thanks. He does usually eat from a stainless steel bowl and they get washed in the dishwasher so don't think it's that. I cannot imagine trying to keep him in 😬 but, tbh, he's not out that much because it's cold.

Thanks all, will try the salt water or hibiscrub if that doesn't work.
