Just looking for a hand hold really. I can't stop crying, I'm so worried I'm going to lose her.

Thinking of you today

DogBagKite · 19/01/2026 09:55

They are keeping her in today to give her fluids, she's lost so much weight in such a short amount of time but hoping this helps. Thank you all for your messages. I will update later x

Vets can give an injection to stimulate an appetite. My little lady had to have one, she stopped eating because she had a flu. Within hours of the injection she was literally desperate for food which is so unlike her. Hope your little one is okay, the vets will be giving her the best care possible x

Catcuddles2 · 19/01/2026 11:21

I hope this gives your cat the spring in the step it needs!

CarrieMoonbeams · 19/01/2026 15:41

That's good @DogBagKite . You'll be missing - and worrying about - her I know, but hopefully it helps to give her a boost.

DogBagKite · 19/01/2026 17:41

She's home! She's definitely had a boost from all the care today, so glad I took her. She really needs to start eating and drinking at home now though in order to get better so the next few days are crucial. I've got a syringe from the vet to try feeding with and her temperature has come down a bit. She's had antibiotics and a drip and they gave her some food with a syringe today. Fingers crossed she's turned a corner. Thank you for the support.

That's fantastic news @DogBagKite . I'll bet she's happy to be home too, although probably exhausted because she'll have had a busy day of being nosey at the vet's!

zebrazoop · 20/01/2026 02:27

So glad she is home. Have you tried licky licks ti get her to eat?

Toddlerteaplease · 20/01/2026 05:50

Have they given her some mitazipine to give her an appetite. Worked miracles when Penelope didn’t eat or drink for 4 days after having her teeth out.

itsmeafterall · 20/01/2026 09:41

@DogBagKite that's good news. With our boy we sat him on lap and pushed the food in. Took ages but eventually he got the idea!

Wishing your kitty all the best. And you are not alone. Lots of dedicated cat people on here to lean on ❤️

DogBagKite · 20/01/2026 12:43

I've managed to get a tiny bit of food into her with the syringe, and she had a drink this morning by herself. Managed to get her to have her medicine too. Small wins!

That's sounding positive, fingers crossed it carries on like that for a few days and she'll be back to her usual self soon x

DogBagKite · 21/01/2026 15:03

Things are improving, she has now voluntarily eaten about half a pouch of food today, and has purred and meowed and been more herself ❤️ I'm so pleased! I'd had more success with syringing lickelicks rather than pate, but hoping she will come back and eat again by herself now she's remembered how! Hearing her pur again after days of silence was magical, and knowing from her response that she wanted to be stroked was lovely. Got two more days of antibiotics to go. Let's hope this continues!

Fantastic news. Give her a stroke from me.

TryingAgainAgainAgain · 21/01/2026 18:28

Awww, that's lovely news!

DogBagKite · 23/01/2026 09:39

A nice update! She is eating wet food at regular intervals now, got through several pouches in the last couple of days, and is putting weight back on. Her personality is back, she's still weak and not playful yet but she's vocal and seeking interaction with us which is so lovely. Last day of antibiotics today. It's all happened in one week, and been very dramatic! Not letting her outside yet until she's stronger, she hasn't asked to go out yet anyway. Thought I'd update to give anyone hope that they can pull through. We thought we'd lost her given how sudden it was and how badly it hit her. Thank you to everyone for your support on this thread xx
