Best cat food

Hi,
I have two Sphynx cats: a 1 year old neutered female and a new 8 week old male kitten (he will also be neutered when big enough).

My female had real digestive issues as a baby and we eventually got her on a completely raw diet which has done wonders: she now has solid bowel movements, very little odour and is a healthy weight.

My boy is on Royal Canin mum and baby dry kibble. This currently suits him and we will keep it the same for at least the next few weeks as it’s what he is used to and he only just came to us.

Can anyone recommend the best cat food to move him on to when he has settled? I think the Royal Canin is up to 4 months. I am not against raw food for him to but not sure if it’s suitable for such a young kitten.

thanks

I’ve been feeding my 5 month old kitten on raw food since I got her at around 8 weeks old. She was a stray had been eating whatever was available so I just went straight onto raw when I got her home. She’s doing really well on it and refuses anything else now. A few raw food brands do specific kitten food but mine wasn’t too keen on the texture which was a bit sloppy.

Charlie is 8 months and eats Scrumbles. He was having raw at the breeders but I didn’t want to feed raw so he had Scrumbles pate as the texture was similar and now he’s on the pouches in jelly or gravy.

Just a regular moggie here, but I think it really depends what your cat will eat. Our boy rejected all the fancy raw food, doesn’t especially like any wet food, and would eat solely Go Cat if it was up to him, supplemented with human food stolen off our plates.

The compromise is Royal Canin biscuits mixed with the Go Cat, and Sheba in the morning, Untamed at night. Gravy only, jelly is ignored and not even licked. I caught him face deep in a tub of chilli I’d cooked then decanted to go in the freezer and was leaving to cool down the other day, so he still prefers human food. He is very partial to a sausage.

Our previous girl ate anything, clean plate club for every single meal. We had her on Untamed and RC latterly, but she really loved Felix and would eat any dry food - we circled through Lily’s Kitchen, Iams, and an Amazon grain-free one for variety.

Surely it would be easier to feed him raw, the same as your other cat?

As a vet said once said to me, the best food is the one the cat will eat.

We tried raw when our boy was diagnosed with IBD but they turned their noses up at it (tbh it looked and smelled pretty grim). We feed Katkin now, it's lightly steamed but is good quality meat and no fillers. I'm vegetarian but it actually looks and smells ok! If you want to try it here's a referral code £10 Trial box

I have a fussy five year old moggie. We seem to need to change cat food every two to three months when the decides she is sick of it!

at the moment we are using scrambles, which she will eat okay. She gets an encore tuna loin as a treat before bed. I need to look for a cheaper alternative to this, they are nearly £2 a pop! But I figure it’s a pretty healthy treat for her, her coat is in really good condition.
