Am I doing something wrong with pets4homes?

Could somebody help me because I really must be doing something wrong… I keep looking on pets4homes because my dd’s (15 and 11) are desperate for kittens. We looked throughout December to see if any litters would be ready to go from January onwards, I’ve even purchased the ‘premium’ version in order to get access to ads sooner.

I just cannot seem to get anyone to reply! I’m trying to see which kittens are female if they haven’t stated with a picture, or I’m asking if I could reserve one but are we meant to click ‘reserve’ before messaging!? I’m not looking for anything special, just a mixed breed under £150…

If someone could help I’d be really grateful… I’m in Worcester and so anything an hour out would be acceptable. I’ve been stalking this forum like a mad woman for tips, got all the litter trays, comfy beds and the house is all prepped and safe but I just cannot find the kittens! (Obviously will pay cat tax as soon as I am able to acquire 😁)

Definitely get two rescue kittens, lots of rescues prefer cats to be adopted as indoor only or indoor with access to a catio. Our cats are indoor, they are happy and a safe from cats/dogs/humans who aren’t kind. I would look at stray cat rescue team west mids or krazykats kitty rescue. Also consider older kittens or young cats, they will be just as playful etc.

Don’t trust anything on pets4homes, just been scammed by Atlanta Wilshire dog breeder, and breeder and site both wash their hands saying buyer beware…so compleatly vaccinated on listing in truth means completely unvaccinated. Avoid both!

Have you tried rescue centres? I’d personally avoid Pets4Homes.

Totally agree.

We have an enclosed garden with a pergola that we would be able to enclose (to make a ‘catio’) which we are hoping would allow the kittens freedom to be outside without the dangers of going missing or predators. This was the idea anyway, I wasn’t keen on using a harness or leash but if needed I suppose we could think about this!?

The RSPCA don’t recommend the use of walking cats on leads etc as cats can get stressed as they like to be in control of their environment.
Whilst I don’t agree with cats being caged (which to all intents and purposes a catio is) in your circumstances it seems a good compromise.
Please adopt and not shop. There are lots of kittens in rescues looking for loving homes and if you explain what you’re set up will be like I’m sure you will be able to adopt.

I didn’t fancy my chances here either as I have a busy road maybe 400m away and a tween. Someone on MN put up a list of private rescues, the lady asked for a video, and I had my tabby girl within 3 days!
I wanted an adult cat but they had kitten pairs especially if you were prepared to watch and wait.
I wouldn’t buy off P4H either, when I was looking they were just people looking to make a few quid. At least if you buy from a rescue not only are you saving a cat from a bad situation, you are not encouraging these hobby breeders to bring more cats into the world when there are already far too many for safe homes to be found

Im in the same position messaged one a couple of weeka ago no reply, just messaged domeone this evening again no reply ive even purchased the premium too, rescue centers say no to young children dont know what else to do

TheGirlWhoLived · 13/03/2026 22:48

Carry on @Tigressmum12 we ended up getting the premium and ‘applied’ for the kittens as soon as they became available. It took about two weeks, and a horrible drive about 40 minutes each way, but we are so happy with our two!

We wanted one originally but were encouraged to get a pair of kittens/young cats as they play together and learn from each other. (That has worked a treat.)

We used a rescue centre and they had plenty of brother sister siblings available.

We kept them in for a long time so they knew where home was and let them out initially only when they were due a feed. On returning, they were fed treats and normal food and pampered.

We also got them Apple tags which connect with phones and show you which neighbour to go and disturb when the tags come off on eg a branch.

The London rescue I volunteer for doesn’t say a blanket no to young children - they go on a case by case basis depending on the cat’s personality.
