Away for a day and a half, wwyd?

First time cat owner here, possibly going away for an overnight stay, I have 2 8 month old Kittens, they normally have access to outside during the day, come in at night. They have free access to dry food and water and usually have a wet food pouch in the morning and evening. Would it be OK if they went without the wet food for one evening or morning? Any advice greatly appreciated, thank you 😀

Cat tax included!

A one off is probably fine but my advice is get a cat feeder with timer - I have a CatMate that has a section for ice packs so is fine for wet food.
I now use it all the time as it means the cat always gets their meals at the same time and isn’t dependent on me getting out of bed or getting home by a certain time for dinner, and she can have an ‘afternoon tea’ slot when I’m. normally at work.
My cat is a huge beggar so I also thought it would help disassociate me with the food. It hasn’t worked on that sadly though but it really helps for the occasional time I’ve gone away overnight etc.

I would recommend getting some pet feeders. We have the surefeed microchip pet feeders as we have 3 cats and our male cat used to eat everyone else's food. Now they can only access their own food and the pet feeder also keeps the wet food fresh and stops flies getting to it in the summer etc.

We usually feed them a pouch each and some biscuits morning and night. If we're going away for a night I will instead do them two pouches each into their pet feeder as it will stay fresh, and then put out biscuits they can help themselves to. I also put out an additional water dish.

If we're going away for longer then we hire a cat sitter that comes and feeds the cats, its usually £5/6 per visit. If its a good one they'll also stop play with the cats for a while.

Very impressed with your cat tax. They are gorgeous.

Sorry can't help with the problem, only clicked hoping you had paid the tax.

That sounds fine for an overnight stay; I'd suggest keeping them indoors with a litter tray while you are gone to minimise the chance of them wandering round the neighbours looking for a better dinner though, or any other mischief, especially as they are still quite young.

I would keep them inside and get some automatic feeders so that their feeding routine is kept as normal as possible. For anything longer though, I would pay for a cat sitter.
