What is your cat getting for christmas?

My girl is getting a catit flappy fish and some battersea pounce balls.
She loves the balls so at least I know one present will be appreciated!
She is on a prescription diet so can’t have a special christmas dinner.

Mine has (yet another) thing on a stick, a huge box of dreamies and a posh dinner. And lots of boxes. Off to Google flappy fish and pounce balls.

squashyhat · 21/12/2025 10:12

A nice warm freshly caught vole, judging by the other 364 days of the year.

AnnaMagnani · 21/12/2025 10:12

The cardboard boxes and wrapping paper. Possibly a bit of Christmas dinner.

FionnulaTheCooler · 21/12/2025 10:15

A Dreamies selection box and a snowball launcher toy which she will probably be terrified of and will be another futile attempt to encourage her fat ass to be more active and lose a bit of weight as per vets instructions.

EmpressaurusKitty · 21/12/2025 10:20

A new tunnel, that has various fun bits inside.

I realised that I spend more on her at Christmas than I do on any individual person except my Dad. But she deserves it.

AnnaMagnani · 21/12/2025 10:21

@FionnulaTheCooler have you tried throwing the Dreamies across the room so she has to run to get them?

My vet told me she got her cat to lose weight by doing this for all her kibble.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/12/2025 10:28

Some catnip mice, to add to his collection of catnip mice. (Based on last year, also a forced spell out in the garden while the turkey rests too.)

I’ve used this in the past for cats who gobbled their dry food. Some of them got the idea more quickly than others.

I tried various versions of that but neither of the two plumptious cats involved ever worked it out!

To date my most successful ever cat present has been this pie toy
(pic to follow)
She spends ages playing with it and you can add treats into it too.

Fresh cat nip, a cat chaise longue, and a cardboard scratch pad that she likes to sit on.

RosesAndHellebores · 21/12/2025 11:13

New cat nip infused, chaise longue, scratchers adjacent to the radiator in the spare room. They love them and have wrecked the old ones. They last for two/three years.

StarDolphins · 21/12/2025 11:22

My cat is getting a dreamies selection box and she’s going to be overjoyed with it. My dog is very old and on a restricted diet so he’s getting shredded ham on his Christmas lunch as a treat🐈‍⬛🐶

The sweetest thing is that my daughter opens the pets presents for them before she opens hers!

Catpiece · 21/12/2025 11:25

A lovely soft corduroy igloo. I couldn’t wait so it’s already out waiting to be used. Cat hasn’t even looked at it 😐

purser25 · 21/12/2025 11:30

He had an advent calendar through the post from two cats. They also have given him a stocking with quite a bit in. He has got some treats from me a spoilt cat.

macshoto · 21/12/2025 11:57

Ours are barn cats, so probably just a few extra Dreamies, and maybe an invite to warm up in the kitchen (but only if they decide they can cope with the kitchen door being closed*.)

(*) Most of them like to hang around in the kitchen doorway, if the door is open, but get distressed if they are inside and the door is closed.

Toddlerteaplease · 21/12/2025 12:21

Nothing, she won’t place with toys, and she’s cost me £1400 to have all her teeth out. I’m skint.

Needmorelego · 21/12/2025 12:28

I got my mums cat yet more catnip toys.
She loves them but then flicks them behind the freezer where no-one can get them out.
I was buying Christmas cards yesterday in Tesco.
I got one for the cat. In my defence the cards were buy 3 get a 4th free and I actually only needed 3.
I am expecting my mums face to look like this on Christmas Day 🙄

Typical!
There is hope though. After ignoring a lovely new cat bed for two years my girl suddenly decided it was the place to be and now spends every evening there before joining me in my bed later.

My girl always takes a few days to try new stuff out too. Although catnip & treats can help get her interested.

wiffin · 21/12/2025 13:34

Extra laps to sit on. And a big pile of paper to play in. Plus whatever food she can steal.

Fat cat. On a vet prescribed diet.

LilyBunch25 · 21/12/2025 13:35

A clip round the ear if she doesn't stop climbing the presents 😅 but seriously, assorted treats and toys 🤗 afraid she hated flippy fish a few years back 🙈 and of course she'll have full rein on the wrapping paper in a mad playfest 🤣

glastogal · 21/12/2025 13:35

A day off from the kids. Exactly what she’s always wanted!

Pascha · 21/12/2025 13:38

Fed, clean litter, lots of tickles.

I might wrap the nerf bullets they like to chase across the kitchen floor. Or a hair band...

So you’re telling me there’s a chance?! Love to see him in the igloo all cosy. Ok admittedly it’d be a bit of a squeeze but they like getting into small cosy places, right? 🤣
