Any advice on food to feed older cats?

My two cats are 18 years old and been on dry food all their lives but am thinking of giving them wet food as they have both lost a bit of weight and condition recently.

Both have been checked recently at vets and one has hyperthyroidism and is monitored regularly. So no health problems fingers crossed.

Looking for ideas to keep their old age happy food wise!! They do get cooked chicken and plain mince when we are having them too. Thank you

I've put Madame (17yo) on Royal Canin 15+ dry food. It's the only dry stuff she'll tolerate.
She also loves any kind of pate or cooked chicken.

My 17 year old loves senior gourmet gold pate.

Royal canin do nice wet food, my old moggies loved it. Ask vet which one? Mine had the one for dodgy kidneys.

wet food is better for their kidneys as they don’t drink enough water. i tried various ones wirh my three. one wanted felix. one wanted whiskas. one wanted sheba.

Yes they need wet food do the moisture and to aid their kidneys. I would go for a complete one with a high meat content and added taurine.

Our 18 year old girl likes Hills senior 13+ dry food. Her brothers had Hill's sensitive for one and Hill's renal diet for the other.

The vet said for our 18 year old to eat the food she likes. So it’s healthy dry food (royal canin I think) in the morning and at the moment Sheba wet food at night. Basically any wet food she enjoys so she will eat more as she was also losing a bit of weight
