Is there a way to deter my cat from climbing and lying in my Christmas tree?!

Recent rescue cat, so this is her first Christmas with us.
I don’t mind really, but I’m worried that I might never be able to switch the tree lights on again 😆 And I’m concerned that it could topple while I’m at work.

DCat could not be less interested in our (real) Christmas tree. Its only value is as a place under which she can leave half-decapitated mice. I suppose the sentiment is there.

I've given up on my big tree because 3 cats live in it and I always worry they will hang themselves on the lights. This year I have a little 3ft tree so they don't kill themselves!

I haven’t got a tree this year as my new kitty started literally eating it!! Plus she would climb it, knock it over and chew the lights.
So I got some indestructible Xmas decorations and blutacked them down onto various surfaces.

You can buy a special sort of gate the put around the base of the tree. I gave up having one years ago because all I would hear at night were balls hitting the wooden floors I might put it up again this year though because life's too short. Or get a fibre-optic one lol. Unstoppable with a tree is a cat.

When I had a chewy kitten, I got some of those cheap battery-operated lights from a bargain store - less risky than getting a bang from mains ones!

That’s what Christmas trees are for 😊
