New bitey behaviour

We’ve had our boy tux cat for 5 years now. He’s always had a very loving personality, wanting cuddles and happy to be laying on laps. He jumps up into our arms to be carried and fussed, he’s done this since being a kitten.

Over the past 3 weeks he has become quite aggressive out of the blue. He jumps up for cuddles as usual but after a few seconds of stroking he grabs our head with his paws and bites our scalp! He’s now done it to DH, me and both kids (several times).

why?! He is usually very very happy to leap into outstretched hands and be carried/petted for ages, he’s usually clinging and doesn’t want to be put back down.

Any ideas?

He needs a vet check. Any sudden change in behaviour needs checking as pain is so often the cause.

Oh no, poor baby. I’ll get him checked. He seems fine otherwise, eating loads and looking his usual dapper self

That's good he's doing well. If he's eating more than normal though then hyperthyroidism could be factor although he'd be very young for it. Get the vet to check ears and teeth especially, but all joints in general. Good luck!
