Do furniture sprays actually work?

Hi, I have taken on two little kittens and a new sofa at the same time. They are wearing me out with keeping them.off the sofa. They have a cat tree, toys and an assault course in the kitchen.

Do any of the sprays to keep them of furniture actually work? If so I was thinking of putting some on rags and placing these in the various spots they target on the sofa (gaps between cushions etc).

You're never going to keep cats off the sofa if that's where they want to be.
Get a large throw and cover the sofa with it to protect it.

Our cat is an absolute bugger for clawing the living room carpet, and no amount of scratchers (every different type is on offer) will stop him. We did try various spray type remedies but nothing worked. We actually got new sofas this summer and he's not been interested in those at all. He's not fussed about our bedroom carpet. The rest of the house is hard floors so safe enough!

Our previous girl never scratched on anything except the silver birch in the garden, and occasionally the front door mat if she was (very rarely because that door is generally shut) in the vestibule. We have an identical mat at the back door which she never touched - cats are so weird!

Another vote for throws on the sofa.

Plus eventually when they are grown up a bit I assume you'll want them on your lap when you're sitting there - putting them off going on there at this stage & you may never get a purry puddle of fluff in your lap!

I use no claws double sided tape from Amazon on the bits I don’t want my cat to scratch, and it works!

I read some of the reviews online at Pets At Home which were pretty poor, the sprays seem to be citrus based.
I've a load of eucalyptus essential oils so I've added drops of this to tissue paper and strategically hidden it in their preferred spots, they've definitely not liked it when I've introduced them to it.
Time will tell how well it works.
Yea, throws are ok but the blankets I have are already fair game for full on assault which I don't want on the sofas if I can help it.

It always makes me smile when you talk about your white princess cat @Judystilldreamsofhorses - her manners sound immaculate!

Don't be fooled, @Puppylucky - she definitely had her moments, and her manners around food would have one clutch one's pearls in horror! Louie would definitely be more welcome to dine at the Ritz or similar, provided they did not have carpeted floors...

But here she is sitting nicely waiting on her (not really, in case anyone comes for me) Heinz tomato soup for lunch.
