Having all teeth removed

The vet has suggested that Miss Penelope has all her teeth out, as long as it doesn’t cause trauma to the jaw. Has anyone else’s cat had this and could they still eat dry food?

My poor feline floof is just about to have a few teeth out. He’s only 6 so seems young. My previous cats did very well until old age with their teeth. When my last boy was a bit toothless I use to buy him Gourmet Pate as he simply licked it. But from this thread it seems many cats are fine with dry food so hoping my boy will be the same.

My DS's gf cat had all teeth put and she only eats cat soup or pate. Not sure if cat has been offered kibble since teeth put though.

My older cat was due to have all her teeth out but when they had her under they managed to save a couple for her

i brought her home, she was very groggy, first thing she did was run over and inhale the other cats dried food

Thanos for the reassurance. She’s looking smug at draining my savings. 🙄

Rosie had all her teeth removed last year (except for her fangs), she had periodontal disease according to the vet.

She eats dry and wet food no problem and is much happier without her teef. Procedure cost me €120 which I was delighted with.

@YelramBob I wish Penelope’s only cost £120. We are at £300 already!

Wow, we paid 1k in total with all the medication and follow up appointments.

Reggie was about £400 7 years ago. Last year another cat had 11 teeth out and it worked out at almost £100/tooth. The get was taken over by one of the big venture capital companies and prices have rocketed.

Fortunately my vet is running a promotion and it’s called at £1200

She’s having her second stage on Monday. Not ideal as I’m at work Monday night. But the only other option was two days before she goes to the cattery. Although they are excellent and run by a vet, they might. It pick up on an issue. She’s barely batted a (reconfigured) eyelid at previous surgery. So hopefully she’ll be ok on her own. For one night! Plan is to take all her teeth out unless they can’t do it without trauma. Apparently the bone density in her jaw isn’t great.

Yes my cat had all his teeth out at a young age.
I think he had tooth resorption.
I asked for them all to be taken out. I think at this point he'd already had to be under previously for teeth being taken out. So basically it was going to be a recurring problem with him.
They did take them all out.
(And in fact my other cat only has about two teeth)
Now he's old but he's never had any problems with dry food and he's always been fine
