Does this ear injury need a vets appointment?

About 3 minutes ago our 15/16 year old female cat appeared with this nasty looking injury to the tip of her ear. I've no idea how it occurred but am assuming it's very recent.
She doesn't seem too bothered by it and is currently eating but should I be making a vet's appointment for this afternoon or is it the equivalent of a nasty cut on human skin that will heal without intervention?
Obviously I don't want her to be in pain but equally I don't want to over react. We've never had any ear injury before.
Thanks in advance

It’s impossible to say without a picture, but a ‘nasty looking’ injury id go to the vet for, a ‘small cut’ maybe not. Cats don’t display pain well so I wouldn’t go off how she’s acting. Also a nasty cut on a 40 year old human may not need looking at by a doctor but a nasty cut on an 85 year old might. Personally I’d phone the vet and take her in.

Edit, picture now visible - I’d go to the vet

When my cat had an injury like that i put savlon on it and kept him in for a day to avoid it getting dirty. I kept an eye on it but it was fine after a few days of savlon. If there are signs of infection though take them to the vet.

Adding the cat's ear healed with a notch but i was ok with that.

Get a leucillin spray from any pet shop. Squirt it and keep it clean. Vet if it gets infected.

I'd take her to the vet. Without knowing how she did it, you can't tell what could be in there especially regarding infection. Plus the width of the gap at the tip of the ear means if she brushes against something or rubs it, that will pull at the base of the wound & make healing a lot harder.

She probably needs a couple of stitches in it, and maybe anti biotics just in case.

Oh I'd definitely get that checked if nothing else to get pain killers . Leucillin spray is really good to have in the house if you don't have any already.

Thanks for the replies. I've spoken to the Vets who asked me to email a photo through, so I'm just waiting to hear back from them to see what they say.
