Sores appearing

I have been to the vet about this once but it was only a couple spots and they were starting to heal so he seemed ok with that. But now my cat seems to have quite a number - 10p sized sores mainly on her neck and head, about four just now, they eventually heal and she develops another. I thought she might have been bitten and her scratching irritated them at first, but they are just too frequent now and not all are accessible to her licking/scratching. I have another cat who doesn’t get these, and I’ve never experienced it with any other cat I’ve had. I don’t see her licking them and only occasionally do I see her scratch. I do have a hot spot type ointment but has anyone had any experience with this? I’m planning on taking her back to the vet but any advice? She’s otherwise fit and healthy and is four years old. She does go out.

Is she scratching them a lot? Could it be ringworm or flea allergy? Vets can test for ringworm with a special light.

If it is you can use daktarin cream. Be warned, the cat might not be keen on having the cream applied so you have to do it slowly. Mine was terrified even of the smell.

My little one had both these when he was little and he scratched his neck until he had bloody holes!

Does sound a bit like ringworm to me. Have a quick google for pictures, and if it's similar bring that up when you see the vet. You should be taking him to the vet again if it's getting worse anyway.

I was going to say to ringworm or a flea allergy too.

Ringworm and flea allergy are the most common causes, but there are quite a few others.
Make sure you are using a prescription flea treatment that lasts 3 months. Would be the first step and ensure all other pets and the house are treated for fleas.
it is often a step wise process and if it is allergy you will never cure the problem it will be ongoing management.
