Toy recommendations for elderly skittish cat

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone could help with some toy recommendations for my cat. She is 14 and not strictly indoor as she does go out, but she is most active at night and I'm not allowed a cat flap. I'm thinking about getting her some decent toys to occupy her at night while alone or to gain her interest in the day. I've only had her two years due to a bereavement in the family. She has a variety of toy mice, a feather on a stick, a ball which she takes occasional interest in. Obviously her age means she can't do anything too strenuous. She likes to chase the odd leaf that comes in, but she doesn't play much and I'd like to give her more to do.

She couldn’t have it alone, but does she like ribbons? Our boy is obsessed with anything “dangly” and will play with me for hours with his ribbon (which is actually the cord waist tie thing off a pair of trousers so pretty robust). He enjoys a good tussle with a dressing gown cord or a loose shoelace too. He does go out but on a day like today when it’s stormy will need a good play session this evening. (He’s kept in overnight and takes himself off to his bed at an audio cue - either me brushing my teeth or “beddy bed”.)

Our previous girl was far too sophisticated for most toys but liked a track thing with balls in it that she would play with on her own or with one of us. It did make a right racket though.

You could think about a puzzle for her. Things like a cardboard scratcher box with holes on the sides, with a ball that rattles around the interior. Or one of those with contained balls, or a spring.

Pets at Home have some nice stuff if you want to go into a shop to look at things in detail, but Zooplus has a better range at better prices all decent quality, and the range on Amazon is ridiculously large!

Forgot to add re the post above about ribbons. Girlcat loves shoe laces, so I've firmly attached a couple to the stretcher on a dining chair, She can still fight & kill it, but can't strangle herself or swallow it.

Thanks for the suggestions! Yes she might well like ribbons as she likes things she can grab. I like the puzzle idea too and will check out zooplus.
