Does anyone from London have room for a rescue cat? 😬

I can’t stop thinking about this cat that I saw on a rescues facebook page. She is 2 and a half years old and was in a car accident as a kitten so has slightly deformed (but still usable) back legs. She has been in a cage at a vet practice for 2 years without anyone adopting her 😢 I messaged my partner to say I really want to get her, but after thinking about it realistically, it wouldn’t be the best decision for us or our cats. We already have 3 cats already and are not in a very good financial position so we can’t afford another one. I also don’t think that one of my current cats would cope with a new addition so I have to think about his mental wellbeing. But it’s tearing me up, I can’t stop thinking about her. Just wondered if anyone is thinking of adopting at the moment and would consider taking her 😬😬

Can you share which rescue it is and the name of the cat? You might not be able to put an actual link but some details would be helpful.

tbh I don’t quite believe that a vet practice would keep a cat in a cage on their premises for 2 years? I would have thought they would either give to a rescue or PTS.

Of course there are cats who have spent a long time waiting to be adopted, I don’t doubt that, but they are in rescues not vets surely.

I thought that too but that’s what it says :/

The name of the cat is Didi and I have attached a photo of the Facebook post listing the overlooked cats. there’s a couple of them that have been stuck in cages at the vets. They are called “every cat matters”

The rescue seems to be bringing cats to the U.K.
I don’t really support that as rescues are swamped here
the cat is in a vet clinic in the UAE

The rescue Harry came from boards cats at several vet's if they don't have foster homes available. It's not ideal but the other option is PTS. At least this way they have the chance of a home.

Rescues in the UK might be less swamped if they were more reasonable with their rehoming criteria. I looked at rehoming from Dubai but the right cat didn't come along but I only did it after being turned down by UK rescues

My sister adopted a cat that had been brought over from the UAE. She wanted a house cat as her road is busy but no one bothered to get back to her or they turned her down. She has a lovely special needs cat (he's blind and had a broken pelvis so walks funny but he's as sweet as anything).

When I was looking, I was turned down several times. Considering I had a cat already and had a garden it seemed ridiculous but the moment they found out it was a flat it was a flat out no.

RSPCA were the only ones who would let me adopt, the first one I had a visit and she loved the place said it was perfect, the second time i just sent photos. I have two wonderful, happy cats (although the fuss he's making right now as I'm ignoring him you'd think otherwise 😂).

So as far as I'm concerned maybe rescues need to look beyond a form and they wouldn't be quite so full.

We had a similar problem but our local RSPCA branch wouldn't let us adopt either. We'd had our previous cat for 15 years until he was 18 but that didn't count for anything as our garden was cat proofed and apparently cats should be allowed to roam. The other reason we were turned down was because we don't have a spare room for the cat. Battersea told me how full they were and how long their waiting list was but apparently not one cat was suitable.

I have an update anyway. What happened with this cat is she was in a car accident which deformed her back legs and then the people at the vet clinic took her in and decided to keep her with them to try and rehome her. However, they haven’t had any luck so reached out to rescues to help. No one has come along to adopt her so far so she has been stuck with the vets all this time. I asked them if I could foster her. So I am fostering her (she comes over next month) and then they will look for a home in the UK for her
