New kitten help and advice (Litter tray)

Hi everyone, we have 2 kittens, one male 9 months old who is so loving and a right softy. We thought he might like a play mate so we took on his half sister (mum had another litter) 2 weeks ago and she is 3 months.

Our male came fully litter trained and we have literally never had an issue with him but his sister is struggling. When we picked her up her stomach felt like a balloon and looked swollen so we got a worming treatment and gave her half a dose...she is absolutely tiny and feels like skin and bone. Her stomach has gone down now but she has had diarrhea since and she is doing it anywhere. She has her own litter tray and I keep putting her in it after naps and after food, and just very often really but she still just squats down and does it anywhere, not even in the same place.

I am going to make an appointment at the vets for her checking over and book in her vaccinations but was just wondering if anybody knows why she might have the runs that doesn't seem to be stopping - she prefers wet food in gravy if that makes any difference, and is eating and drinking as normal. She doesn't seem to be poorly if you know what I mean.

TIA

She sounds poorly. Vet is the best call.

Just a thought but are you feeding her the same food that she was fed at her previous home? A change of diet can cause issues in kittens.

No, I think its different food and I am wondering if its too rich for her stomach. I'll call the vets and see what they say and suggest in terms of her diet, thank you x

Where on earth did you get her from? When you say half sister, do you mean same mum? A poor cat has had two litters within a very short amount of time and the little girl sounds very poorly.

Yeah same mum. I'm taking her to the vets this week.

She's too young to have her food switched around - you need to feed her the same as she was on in her previous home. But with diarrhoea and her being so small I would get her in at the vets today - they can go downhill very quickly at that age.

Thank you, we've put her back on small portions of what she was on before from the advisory of the vets and got her an appt on Monday. Vets said because she's not lethargic and is still playing that its not an emergency however if things change then to call them back.
