Terrorised by neighbours cat

He moved to the street maybe two years ago.
He's big and looks like a snow leopard.

I'm at my wits end, awake at 3am because for the second time today he's attacked my girl cat. This time in the house. The noise they made was horrific. I honestly think he might kill her. I've never gone from being sound asleep to downstairs so quickly.

We have a cat flap with I'm going to have to keep locked. We have litter trays already just my girl has been weeing everywhere since the death of her brother (neighbours terror attacked him too and dragged him back through the cat flap when he tried to escape. This was last year and her brother is sadly no longer with us.)

I've spoken to the owners before when they first got him and he was attacking my boy. Apparently he's spayed but why is he so viscous?

Not sure what I can do? Certainly won't be sleeping for a while....

You should upgrade your cat flap, we got 2 microchipped cats and the cat flap is programmed to only let them in.
Hopefully he back away and your cat is safe 🙏😺

It sounds like it could be a Bengal which are known for their aggression to other cats?

You'll need to keep your cat flap locked or get a microchip one, and some people swear by putting lion dung around the garden (Silent Roar I think it’s called). I’d also have no qualms about having a super soaker or buckets of water ready if I spotted it in my garden - I got two males who were harassing my female cat with water and they now give our property a wide berth.

We have a microchip cat flap which sadly doesn't work well and I cannot afford to replace at the moment.

I have used citronella and citradora in spray to deter it. I usually do have a pump spray to hand but couldn't find it earlier. It don't care anyway.

It really has it in for her. She's small and timid.

I'll try the lion poo but I'm worried it will scare her too...

From your description of its appearance and behaviour, it could be a savannah cat, a hybrid cat that’s part wild serval. They are notorious for being aggressive and are unsuitable as pets. Inevitably, people who choose to have one are likely to be irresponsible idiots.

Can you seal up the cat flap? Keep her as an indoor cat with supervised garden time for her own safety.

CucumberCool · 22/08/2025 14:22

Thanks the info @worrisomeasset I hadn't heard of those types. Looking at pictures it definitely has some of this breed in but not such big ears.

@snobcat I'm loathed too but think I will. Definitely will keep locked at night. Tbh she is too scared to come downstairs nevermind go outside! There has been some progress today as sleeping on top the bed rather than underneath....

Hose him. Regularly..

Wolfiefan · 22/08/2025 14:36

Can you cat proof the garden so she can go out but it can’t get in

Oxo01 · 22/08/2025 14:42

Water pistol or lightish spray with hose .

CucumberCool · 22/08/2025 15:10

No hose unfortunately but I do have a high power spray. I add citronella 😉. Do the walls he like to sit on too to try and make it unpleasant. Rarely get anywhere near him. The Savannah types like water apparently..

I also run out and growl like an banshee, but I'm sure he finds it as funny asy neighbours probably do!!
