Young cat gone missing; handhold and other ideas please?

Diggers and a generator round on Sunday due to a power cut; young cat hasn't been seen since :( her brother is so sad, they're very close! I'm shaky and weak, we're both scared for her. I've put her bed outside in case the smell helps, but we're pretty rural and it's very overgrown around us so I don't know how much it will help. Obviously put it on the socials and taken leaflets round the village, everyone keeping an eye out.

People telling me stories of their cats going missing for days; please tell me yours! Also grateful for any more suggestions.

Mine was gone for 6 weeks. She disappeared a week after I had builders in.

You're doing all the right things, social media is amazing for this, it was one of my posts that got the attention of someone who had seen her on their doorbell camera. I spammed the neighbourhood, the Facebook pages, Nextdoor app. The builders knew, the binmen knew.

I walked around with flyers in my pocket, handed them to people walking dogs etc., posters on every street, flyer through every door within a certain distance. Posters in the local shop and the pub. Good photos, showing any distinctive features are also a must. I never stopped looking.

I have an amazing neighbourhood, and everyone was so kind and kept looking for her when they were out on walks etc.

My one's 'brother' would sit by the patio door every night, just staring in to the darkness. Only moving if he heard the fence blown in the wind. It actually broke my heart seeing him like that. I have a lovely photo of them the night I got her back, she ran straight over to him and gave him a nuzzle, he looks like he's telling her off. They're inseparable.

Fingers crossed she's just got a bit lost and the noise has scared her, and she's hiding close by. 🤞🏻Flowers.

Longest my feline idiot was away was 10 days.

I'm glad you've made leaflets - have you posted them through as many letterboxes as you can? People tend to walk past flyers stuck on lamposts, but they are more likely to take notice of and keep something through the door. In out case the idiot was tracked down by someone a mile away posting on facebook about a cat that appeared in their garden. Someone I'd leafleted saw the post, had kept the leaflet and passed on my details to the person who found her.

Mine was recently gone 5 days. Made it to the end of the road and then because we have a rather unusual layout of terraces and garages, couldn’t make it back home. He was finally caught breaking into a neighbour’s house and causing a scene overnight and when he was reluctant to go back outside they thought something might be up and called us to collect him- he has a tag on his collar which is how they found our number, they hadn’t actually seen the posters we put up. According to receptionist at the vet’s it’s very very common and most are found within a week.

I also lost our other cat for 2 days after he was spooked by the builders and turns out he got up behind the boiler and into the ceiling.

Now they both wear air tags!

Thank you all, very helpful to know your stories and how long they can wander off for! Mine was home when I got in after work - cue lots of food and sleep, and cuddles from her brother! (and us - and even the dogs!)
I had put leaflets in doors; now I'll have to pop round and let them know 😜

Fingers crossed we don't have issues again; but will definitely research air tags. Thanks again

So pleased she’s back!

Re air tags, they’re best for built up areas as they need nearby iphones to ping off. Not massively helpful you’re very rural. But I suppose could potentially rule out the cat still being on your property somewhere, like mine in the ceiling!
