Underweight kitten- what to feed?

I adopted a couple of female kittens last week. They’re 13 weeks old today and they weigh 1.1kg and 900g this is obviously small for their age, so I wanted to try and maximise their feeds as much as I can. They’re both very active and eating well with what I’m giving (whiskas kitten food as that’s what they’re used to from the rescue. Ive booked them into the vet for a check up and get them ready for vaccines etc next week so will talk with the vet about it, but I just wondered if anyone had any experience in good things to feed to fatten them up a bit!

Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Kitten food is good for getting weight on all types of cat, even adults.

Phase any change in gradually. Maybe try the one suggested and also maybe look at kitten food with a higher proportion of meat in it.
Zooplus website is good for cat food. A lot of the popular brands in supermarkets aren't brilliant nutritionally. Look for complete foods and higher meat content.

Yeah I don’t feed my existing cats whiskas for that reason, I always intended to phase it out for the food the others eat. I’ll check that website out, thank you!

@Justanothergeneric is it the wet or dry or both you recommend?

Both. It was recommended by the vet for our very elderly cat. Our cat is indifferent to the wet but loves the dry. But I think in an ideal world a mixture of wet and dry is better.
