Alternatives to Yu-move?

NImumconfused · 02/08/2025 15:23

I posted a while back about our senior cat getting less mobile, and several people recommended Yu-move. Unfortunately, having tried it, the poor cat is sick every time she has it. Does anyone have any alternative recommendations? Cat is about 13 (rescue so can't be totally sure).

Cat tax attached!

Thanks, I'll check that out - did you find it effective?

He seemed a lot happier on it, my vet friend recommended it and sent me some
obviously trial it in case it has the same effect but he turned down dreamies if that was on offer!

Solensia injection

Whitehorses67 · 03/08/2025 06:37

As previous poster suggests.
Solensia is a monthly injection from your vet which, if they allow and you feel competent, you can do at home after the first time.
It is safe for cats with kidney disease too.
My old girl went from being stiff and a bit limpy to being able to jump up on top of the wardrobe ( from the adjacent chest of drawers) within 24 hours of the first injection. I could not believe it!
There is a version for dogs too if anybody doggy is reading and that is called librella.

Thanks for the further suggestions, all, I think we will try the supplements first and if they don't help talk to the vet about Solensia. I don't think I'd be keen on trying to do the injections myself, and the cat really hates going to the vets, so if supplements are effective they're the easier option.

Hi @NImumconfused I just wondered how your cat got on with alternative supplements. Did you try Seraquin? I found this thread as I tried our elderly cat on Yumove for the first time today (just one tablet as she's pretty small) and she vomited all her food up within an hour :( Would be keen to hear what ended up working for you.
