Seen vet but behaviour still not right

Our 14th month old cat was seen by the vet yesterday because he has been excessively sleepy recently over last few weeks, lethargic and wet himself while asleep a couple of days ago which he has never done before. Currently sound asleep, he usually is quite awake and full on in the mornings.

He has had juvenile gingivitis since December. Gums seem under control at the moment and no major flare up although pinky and he takes loxicom for this but has breaks so not all of the time.

Vet checked thoroughly bladder bowel mouth legs under chin etc and everything looked normal to vet but our cat is v sleepy. What concerned me most was the lack of bladder control while asleep. Vet said it may have been a one off.

Has anyone else experienced this and has any explanations for this change of behaviour?

Our cat spends a lot of time in our garden when nice weather and goes under hedges to other gardens so we don't know what he is doing or whether he has eaten something strange. No diarrhea that we know of but he is outside a lot. In at home from 10pm at night with door locked. Could have changed his sleeping habits so awake at night ATM? So sleepy in day but not sure. Temperature normal at vets yesterday. All very odd!

If only they could talk! My cat's behaviour changed recently, sleeping all the time, not seeking constant attention as is usual for her. I initially put it down to the warm weather but after a week I got her checked and she had a sore tooth. Had surgery last week and is back to her usual behaviour. Does sound like it could be pain of some sort, you could try giving the painkillers every day and see if that changes anything? Otherwise further investigations, bloods/scan are the only way to get answers with animals. Did your vet check his urine? That would be a simple cheapish first test. Hope he perks up soon.

Thank you @Vintagenow we will keep an eye. Just dosed him up on loxicom maybe his gums are painful ATM although don't look any different from normal. They are a worry aren't they! Wish they could talk or write things down with their paws lols. Glad yours is back to normal.
