Hi I have a new kitten had her a week and just now she has done a poo on some clothes my son left on his bedroom floor (teens 🙄) why would she do this?

Because she can. Because she was lost. Because the litter tray was dirty. Because she doesn't know how to use it. Could be anything. How old is she?

myfourbubbas1 · 30/06/2025 22:03

Is the litter tray clean? Could you try a different type of car litter or have a couple of litter trays?

PawsPaws · 30/06/2025 22:05

Yes clean, more is this normal I guess as now I’m worried where else it might have done it, I don’t want to end up with maggots. Kitten is 13 weeks.

She probably just got confused or couldn’t find the litter tray in time it can happen especially in a new home just make sure trays are easy to find and always clean.. 🤗

How many litter trays do you have for her? Was she being supervised?

PawsPaws · 01/07/2025 09:38

She has two one up one down, I don’t supervise her constantly as that would be impossible she was in my sons room

She’s still a baby and she had an accident. If it happens again in a non litter tray room then for now if keep her out of the bedrooms unless she’s supervised. I’m not sure how your way of thinking has led you from the cat doing a poo on some clothes is going to lead to a maggot infestation. Do you get maggots in the litter tray?

PawsPaws · 01/07/2025 09:53

no no maggots in litter tray but I am extremely paranoid about them as have a phobia of them so it’s not helping. I’m worried there’s one I don’t know about as my son is saying he can still smell something (I can’t) we've looked and can’t find anything but because she’s so small she can get into tiny places

It sounds like you might need to kitten proof a bit. When I got mine I restricted the house at first so she couldn’t get into small spaces where I could
not find her. I pretty much knew where she was all the time as she was a baby at 13 weeks. Make sure she cannot get out, into the washing
machine or widows left open. They have no common sense at that age.

PawsPaws · 01/07/2025 10:04

Yeah I try to keep her downstairs but often the kids will want to play with her, definitely restricting the rooms she has access to now thanks.

At 13 weeks old she other needs to be confined to a small space or supervised - she’s too young to just have free roam of your house. Mine was shut in one room at that age unless we were actively able to supervise him and get him out of mischief.

Ok thanks
