What to do with a cat you can't take care of

Long story short we were gifted a cat we didn't want. Despite best efforts we cannot take care of her or keep her. She's healthy, happy and well behaved. I don't know what to :/ I've contacted a few animal rescue centres and they've all said they're full, will contact a few more over the coming days. Would really appreciate some advice :(

I don’t suppose she’s a specific breed is she? If so, many breeds will have a breed specific society that may help with rehoming (like The Burmese Cat Society) for example

Oh what a difficult situation. Could you maybe put the word out locally among family, friends, neighbours & work colleagues, to see if anyone would be prepared to take the cat on, even temporarily?

I would, but I've already got my hands full with several long-term fosters.

I have also known our local vets to connect people

Have you tried local cats protection league? They may be able to find a foster and would make sure cat had a nice home to go to?

Speak to your local vets, or maybe a local dog walker may have some connections? I’ve helped rehome cats privately as a dog walker before.

Speak to your local vets. My sil is a vet nurse and she said they often get people who need to rehome a pet.

I remember seeing my old two cats on a poster in the vets. It was obviously fate though because when we did start looking about 3 months later, they were at the RSPCA.

Even if local rescues can’t take the cat, maybe one could facilitate the rehoming in return for a donation? It would mean the cat going from your home to the adopter, but the rescue doing the advertising & vetting.
