Plastic bag obsession

One of my cats is obsessed with licking plastic bags (bin liners). She is getting more and more obsessed with it. This morning she ignored her breakfast to continue licking a bin liner I had got out. When I put her bowl in front of her she continued licking the bin liner. Eventually one of the other cats ate her breakfast as well as her own, and she was going round looking puzzled at empty bowls.

Apart from keeping plastic bags out of the way what can I do about this???

Mine loves a crinkly- (cellophane clear type) plastic bag. I have to stop her from chewing in case she swallows. Cats are nuts

My big boy is like this. He adores plastic shopping bags, the thin ones, and plastic packaging. Especially that of tomatoes and crisps. If I bring in shopping he's punctured the bags within seconds!

He doesn't eat the contents, just loves licking and chewing the plastic. Packaged bread as well I have to hide in cupboard. He's been like that all his life. He's about 7.

I think it's probably quite good for their teeth.
The funny thing is if I give him an empty bag he's not interested, it has to have something inside he's not supposed to get to?!

it was plastic sweet wrappers in my house. I had to fish them out of Maia’s mouth a few times. 🤮 I caught her knocking the bin over to get them out. I was absolutely astounded that she had the brains to do that.

It’s called PICA and can potentially lead to issues when they move on from licking to biting / chewing . From your user name OP I am having a guess that you have Siamese and it’s something they are prone to .

Yes I have one Siamese and it is her that is doing this. The others don't bother (they aren't Siamese).
